the X-Wings in Jedi Outcast

Sorry for the silly topic but I just remembered that there was a screenshot of an X-Wing in one of the load screens that appear when you are installing Jedi Outcast.

I was pretty hyped about that back when I saw it for the first time.

I would check again and post it but I lost the CDs

Anyway, I was wondering, does that game ever let you fly an X-Wing in single player? Or in multiplayer? What X-Wings appear in the game? Why would they include that photo in the installation loading screen?
Or am I confused and there was no X-Wing screen?

I only played the first levels using the original game, then gave it to some friend (and never got it back) and then decided to use the Jedi Academy - Outcast mod to complete the story. So I'm curious if I was missing something.

Although it seems to me that you can not pilot the X-Wing in Jedi Outcast. Although in Jedi Academy:

Ah it looks like that SP level where some X-Wings appear flying in the background.

Yeah, that's just one that flies over head during the Artus Topside mission.

You can actually fly an X-Wing using a console command in Jedi Outcast. I think that was fly_xwing, or something similar. Though I never managed to get that thing to work properly, also because of the maps not large enough for starfighters.
