minilogoguy18 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I remember seeing that .md3 models can have LOD's just like a .glm but I'm not sure how to set them up. Anyone know?
minilogoguy18 Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 @@DT85 ? Searched a thread where you mentioned doing it but no details on how, tried the usual naming system for GLM LOD's but it didn't work.
Tempust85 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Have 4 scene files, essentially clones of the original. Same tags and mesh parts. Scene 1 = LOD0 - original model. export as "example.md3"Scene 2 = LOD1 - export as "example_1.md3"Scene 3 = LOD2 - export as "example_2.md3"Scene 4 = LOD3 - export as "example_3.md3" To test that you've done it correctly, use MD3View and test the LODs by loading "example.md3" and changing the LODs via the menus/hotkeys. minilogoguy18 likes this
minilogoguy18 Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Works great, now I'm gonna go on a LOD spree. Wonder why Raven never did this to all the models to further optimize the game? I guess most MD3 models were already pretty low detail.
