ensiform Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 What do we need to do for a release to happen still? Testing? Bugs? SP fixes? Licenses & Icons, Installer?
MoJo JoJo Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I know one thing that can and probably needs to be fixed for SP: SP will crash randomly during force/lightsaber battles in both JA and JK2 and it's been present for a few months now. That's one thing that I know of.
Tempust85 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Has that issue been added to the issues tracker?
ensiform Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 JK2 is irrelevant at this point in the discussion but JASP still is of course. https://github.com/JACoders/OpenJK/issues/699 (closed) https://github.com/JACoders/OpenJK/issues/696 (open) https://github.com/JACoders/OpenJK/issues/697 (open) https://github.com/JACoders/OpenJK/issues/698 (open) https://github.com/JACoders/OpenJK/issues/707 (open, jk2) Dunno if all of the open ones are still valid or not.
mrwonko Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 In my opinion:Crash reporting (#141)Custom archive format with metadata like required version (#706)Possibly some form of auto updating; e.g. a launcher (mentioned in #710)A launcher could also include a bug reporting toolInstaller which verifies the chosen directory contains Jedi Academy (related to #627, but kind of its own issue)
ensiform Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 #706 is not a requirement for a release in any way shape or form. Why would it be? Verifying JA stuff can and probably will happen during the games startup ?
mrwonko Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Maybe #706 is not exactly a requirement for a release, but it's high priority; users need to be able to tell when a mod requires OpenJK in an idiot-proof fashion. Verifying JA stuff can and probably will happen during the games startup ?By then it's too late; now the user has to go through the hassle of reinstalling/moving it. Archangel35757 likes this
ensiform Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Its not really a high priority. You have yet to convince me there is anything out there mod wise that is truly broken on base as of yet. The cvars support is not a new section in the save file. They will still load just fine just without the cvar being set. As they are just variables in icarus. The checks can be done earlier but I think the game should be able to look too as a last ditch especially for people who do not install via installer.
ensiform Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Are we also waiting for SDL 2.0.4 so that the externally blocked issues are fixed?
