RcEnolc
I was just wondering if there are any tips to help keep lighting from causing FPS drops such as using more little lights, few bigger lights, or where best to place them in rooms? Link to comment
Raz0r
The performance impact is next to nothing. Lighting is calculated offline, so it will only affect your compile time and (if you go really crazy with lightmaps) memory usage. Agent Jones likes this Link to comment
Xycaleth
The only impact more lights can possibly make is an increased lighting compile time Link to comment
eezstreet
I suppose if you had a bunch of dynamic lights.. Link to comment
RcEnolc
Hmm I had found using larger light sources and light switches seemed to drop FPS by at least 20 which was rather annoying. I am also curious about the best option for lighting an 'outside' area; you say one large light source shouldn't affect the FPS? Link to comment
Xycaleth
We say many light sources won't affect FPS. Link to comment
