GamerRedNeck Posted Thursday at 03:17 AM Posted Thursday at 03:17 AM I just upgraded my monitor from 1920 x 1080 to a 2560 x 1440 resolution. Looks great, but Jedi Academy seems to be acting up. Running in OpenJK, the game's framerate constantly shifts from 175 down to 24 fps. The only fix I found was turning off dynamic glow, which I suppose is an option but it only works so well and doesn't stop all frame drops, which are still frequent. If anyone has any suggestions that doesn't require sacrificing something that worked fine on a lower resolution, I'd very much appreciate it.
Circa Posted Thursday at 04:20 PM Posted Thursday at 04:20 PM That implies your system can't handle going higher than 1080p very well. What are the specs of your computer? Does it happen in other games as well? .!¡!. BASE OASIS • GALAXY BOUND // A STAR WARS PODCAST
GamerRedNeck Posted yesterday at 01:18 AM Author Posted yesterday at 01:18 AM Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700F 2.10 GHz Installed RAM 16.0 GB System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor It did happen in other games upon testing them. Jedi Academy was the first and most notable game to get massive frame drops.
Circa Posted yesterday at 02:59 PM Posted yesterday at 02:59 PM No GPU? Are you playing on a laptop or some kind of business PC that doesn't have a dedicated GPU? If so, that's going to be the main reason why. Playing on an integrated GPU is going to struggle hard at games in general, especially the higher resolutions. You'll probably want to just stick with running the game lower at 1080p. If you played the base game without mods it might run better too, mods use tons of resources these days; but of course that's probably not an option. .!¡!. GamerRedNeck Posted yesterday at 04:35 PM Author Posted yesterday at 04:35 PM I do have an option for hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling. Whatever that means. I'm still pretty green when it comes to PC hardware, admittedly. My GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. Don't know why it didn't appear the first time I pulled my specs up.
Circa Posted yesterday at 07:16 PM Posted yesterday at 07:16 PM Ah that should be sufficient enough for sure. Make sure your monitor is plugged into the graphics card slot on the back of your PC. If it’s plugged into the motherboard it isn’t going to use the dedicated graphics card by default at all. I also recommend using 64bit versions of OpenJK or other clients because they can use more of your computer’s resources than the traditional 32bit versions ever could. GamerRedNeck likes this .!¡!.
