Wookiee Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I've decided to donate and run for JKHub a JA+ on my linux dedicated server to help spread the word of advertising, fan club of jkhub players like on JP or JA+ Official Servers. Plus I want to help out as much as I can to help others enjoy playing Jedi Academy. If this gets the good green light, I'll let Caelum know the details so he can access. I've decided to put JA+ 2.4 Beta1 up and JASS 3.0.0 and no force settings on map rotation. IP - 74.118.195.164:24000
Astral Serpent Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 In my opinion you should change it to JA++ once server-side is released, as JA+ is not officially supported by JKH (afaik), whereas JA++ is. MUG likes this
Link Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 For now Build 7 would be a better option than Beta 1. Me personally I think calling it e.g. Official JKHub Server wouldn't be the best idea, but rather something like "The Hub" which encourages clan recruitment like the old ClanWarriors server (Where a lot of clans including JAWA got their start). Oh and if we're going to do something like that it'd have to be on a decent host e.g. LPGS to ensure it's stable/reliable. But this should be Caelums decision since he's the manager, perhaps rename the server until he's come to a decision?
Mysterious Stranger Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 The Internet of that host is pretty stable, knew someone who had a JKA server from them. Hardware, of course, varies.
MUG Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I agree that an official JKHub server would be a bad idea. But it would be nice to have a server that is "On neutral ground" for Hub users, as frankly, I would love a server to visit that has no clan affiliations, that way the server doesn't get bogged down by anyone's politics, it can just be to the point, and a place for anyone to play. So basically what SiLink said. A server for anyone, but not explicitly associated with JKHub. This would also mean the the JKH staff don't need to worry about moderating it and the like, that would fall to you/whoever you wish to make admin, if you choose to moderate it at all. I certainly think it was a bad move to put JKH's name on it before getting permission.
Wookiee Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 I was using JA+ beta 1 as an example of how JASS actually works to get those crashes fixed. I've renamed the server to be called 'The Hub JA+ NF' MUG likes this
Wookiee Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 Also if anyone knows of a good mod that does attract alot of players for JKA besides a total conversion like mb2, I'd be happy to run it also apart from JA+.
MUG Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Well, we do already have KAK for mods and events and its hard enough to get enough people for the one server =P
Wookiee Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 What is KAK by the way, never heard of it before?
Malkav Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 What is KAK by the way, never heard of it before? This should answer a few questions:
MUG Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 @@WookieeKAK is just a server that got donated to Cael by Rach (who used to host TO before you took over) but Cael has little use for it, so has allowed me to host random events on it. I also use it for map tests and the like.
Wookiee Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 I could install make in a hydroball v2 server instead which is located in NY, or I will go with 'The Hub' idea. PS I broke my linux server today, it is what happens when I lose and the it doesn't work properly
MUG Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I could install make in a hydroball v2 server instead which is located in NY, or I will go with 'The Hub' idea.I really think one hydroball server is enough xD Not enough hydroballers to go round as it is.
Wookiee Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 The Hub is down at moment, will post again and the new IP when it is ready. Any comments what mod I should run like ESL, JKA Enhanced by Sil or JA+ also.
Wookiee Posted October 18, 2012 Author Posted October 18, 2012 Well MoonDog I couldn't find anything that was decent to use so JA+ it is until JA++ comes out. IP - 74.118.195.165:24000
