  1.

That exactly correct ,it bugs me when a modder/coder spends months building a mod and people just cheat there way through the mod and finish it in 5 min .Makes the whole process of building a mod a waste of time.

You know, Serenity, this DOES give me an idea. Why don't you put something in the code that doesn't allow cheats UNLESS, and I quote the word UNLESS, they legitimately beat Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, or both. Sort of as...you know, a reward. Like you could say "hey good job for legitimately beating the game. Now if you want to play with cheats, do this and enable that and you're good to go." Like in the old N64/PS1/Dreamcast days when those who played the games got rewards for beating them legitimately, before gamesharks and action replays came around.

  2. something like god mode is not allow, you can devmap and setforceall give all and dir cvar, playermodel. and such.

So...you can use no target for annoying things such as cairn_dock, correct? I'm...sure many of us here can agree that the stealth part of that level is BRUTAL and HARD. Nocliping too?

  3. Even if the risk is nearly 0, it's always best to cover yourself. We're working on a way to make this the case whilst improving our current way of doing things, so nobody gets affected by this. Will be announced this week *Broken record.mp3* :P

Of course, Si. I'm not saying that there is NO chance that it could happen. There's always that ONE chance that happens out of the blue.

  4. minlogoguy18: only if JKHub says "NO PORTS PLZ" like their current policy is. I see no difference between sounds/models personally, but that's just me.

Sounds might actually be different, Eez. HOWEVER, that's what I think. I'm guessing that the bigger concern is ported models getting distributed, as sounds have been done all the time. Again, this is just what I think.

  5. It depends on who owns the sounds/content. If you rip from a KotOR game it probably belongs to BioWare or EA. If you rip from JK2, it probably belongs to Raven or Activision.

All of this is assuming you're using content specific to that game, and not shared sounds such as what's used by droids and whatnot. Those probably belong to Disney/Lucasarts/Lucasfilm.

    It's messy.

But I generally wouldn't worry about it unless you're doing just a straight sound-replacement mod.

I find myself agreeing with you on that one Eez. Sound replacement mods may be more trickier to host. Possible, but just harder to avoid lawsuits and other bs :/.

  6. Not everyone can make models, maps, or sounds either. Your point?

No, because Dark Forces, Movie Duels and Movie Battles aren't 100% composed of ported content...

I think the point is that we need to approach this from BOTH sides. I know ported content isn't okay, but as long as there isn't 100% composed of ported content, like you said, the mods will be okay. I mean, I'm sure we all wanna see a successfully completed DF2 Mod for JKA like DT is attempting, a completed Dark Forces mod, even a MOTS mod remade as well. Plus, there were even attempts to make JK2 playable IN JKA.
