Why feel bad? Rend2 is quite worth it and alot of people will use it. I'm talking from a playing point of view, only so many people want to mod games these days. Most everyone just wants to play.
rend2 would definitely appeal to players, as you'll always see people saying how they'd like jka in an updated [graphics] engine, have better graphics, etc
