The current Disney management cares jackshit for fan views/opinions and relations, and they did buy the rights to the name and franchise, so there's not much that can be done. They are foolishly convinced they are oh-so-cool and almighty. Time will tear their world apart (and serve justice), but the damaged they've caused is irreversible...

Actually, no, I did a research into the cultural literary values of the Star Wars stories, and their worth to modern literature and future generations is quite significant. As far as film culture and storytelling in film goes Star Wars is at the top in terms of impact and significance. So not exaggerating at all.
