You have a moral right to like/love, to dislike/hate, to support, to not support, to voice your concerns, to be critical, and to hold your own legacy and beliefs without stigma/discrimination. They do not own you, nor the culture and legacy you carry with you; they need us to spend, and they can't manipulate us if we know our worth and stand up for our rights -- they have to deliver.

And, in case it isn't obvious, when I spoke of freeing people from "corporate influence", I mean not being swayed by marketing hype and corporate propaganda. Keeping your head clear and down to earth, knowing your culture/background and stance (your personal worth), and not letting corporations twist you around their finger as they please. You're not a puppet, you're a person.

But the gist of it stands, and strong action is needed from the fanbase to save our legacy and culture.

Re-reading what I wrote in the last few few posts here, the wording sounds a little too extreme for me... Just keep in mind that the backlash I've received from people for speaking up against Disney here was extreme as well, and this is just me venting about it. Not everything produced under Disney's licensing program is "trash", and my general views (anti-Disney, anti-corporate) are not as extreme as they sound here. In any case, that isn't Star Wars culture -- it's not the universe Lucas and a huge community of passionate, dedicated, and talented people following his original creative vision since has built and expanded on.

Which, to me, in fact, goes to prove, despite her long history in the field, and supposed experience, that KK doesn't know what the hell she's doing with Star Wars. Perhaps she's following some extremist pop-culture agenda, hoping that it will impress? That seems to be the crazy rave these days. I don't know.

While Lucas was in charge of Lucasfilm, creative production was leading, and fueling the rest of these areas, as it's supposed to. That made the whole thing meaningful, (mostly) consistent, and sustainable. Content was produced with meaning first, under a coherent creative vision, building upon an existing culture, not for the sake of just having what to license, market, and merchandise (i.e. just for money).

Apart from feature film production, a big aspect of being in change of Lucasfilm is the area of merchandising -- that's where a huge portion of the money is. So, at the moment, it is licensing, marketing, merchandising, and creative production. In Disney's current, corporate business plan, the last is overshadowed by the former three.

We can make sure to let them know we're not happy with their (arrogant) decisions, though, by not supporting (and not purchasing) their products (see Solo), and by keeping the old Star Wars universe and culture alive, and expanding on it ourselves with new, quality content. Eventually, they'll have to shift where the money is, where the people's hearts are.

I like Newmodder's suggestion best for a replacement (and I will add, who are dedicated fans of the old stories themselves!), although who will produce and direct Star Wars going forward is a decision entirely in the hands of the Disney executive board...

You ARE responsible, even if you're doubting it and do "nothing".

And your approach and actions DO matter, shaping the future of Star Wars and our community.

You DO have a choice between complacency and resistance.

Keep our historic legacy and culture alive, and don't let them drown it.

Seriously, guys, if we continue to let them infect our culture with their crap, there won't be much of meaningful Star Wars left for our children and future generations to enjoy.

As long as our culture and legacy is saved, though, I don't care about my personal sacrifices -- growing up with it, it means that much to me.

...begin to see their sensibility and reasoning. Of course, they rarely receive credit for their sweat and blood shed. Usually, throughout their life they are treated with injustice.

People thought, and some probably still think, it's about me. It never was. I spoke for our common good, and for the legacy we were losing. I used what limited skills I have at my disposal to try and open others' eyes as well, and free them from corporate influence. But that's just what happens to those who speak up -- that's poor human nature, to treat new views, or perceived radical views, and their speaker(s) with hostility, until enough time passes that enough people begin...

...so there's more to save from our crumbling and disappearing culture...

Unfortunately, not many of us are wise enough to recognise this yet... So that's what I've been trying to do -- raise awareness. For that, for being the first to speak up, I've been marginalised and treated cruelly, with terrible injustice. But I see that my efforts were not in vain, and that the community is slowly turning over a new leaf and realising the reality of the things I've spoken about. I just pray that all this will happen in time, sooner rather than later, so ther...

The only way we can mend it is by keeping alive and passing on the old, quality stories (and universe) in the fandom, and throwing away the new, or treating it like the popular trash it is, dictated by a corporation instead of revered and kept alive by the people and our culture.
