You can find the latest version here I believe:

Ignore any warnings about being unsafe, it just doesn't have an active cert. It is safe. I'll look into re-hosting a build here but for now that should do fine for you. Not sure about gamepad support though.

Ok, thanks. I've tested it but it has no gamepad support. Well, I guess I will use that build from 2018 (not 2014 as I said) which has gamepad support.

This is completly offtopic, but just to not open another threat: Some years ago I made a mod (my only one mod):

...but now I see that I forget to set the lips up, so there is no lips movement when Kyle talks. The point is that I don't know how to do it and fix it right now. Maybe you could do it/fix it? I would be very grateful.

OpenJK still doesn't have an official JK2 support out there yet. Are you trying to use the normal Jedi Academy OpenJK with JK2 or did you find someone's compiled OpenJO? Where'd you download from?

    Hi Circa,

I want to play Jedi Outcast and didn't see any JO build in GitHub. I have an old JO build from 2014, but I'm wondering if it would be possible to get a most recent JO build (which, I guess, will have new or better features). Is there any way to get that build? I am specially interested in a build that has gamepad support. Thanks in advance.

  3. Hi guys,

I'm looking for an old build for Jedi Outcast (and old one because since SDL implementation gamepads doesn't work). The only OpenJO build I found (and I've been searching a lot) is the one included in JK2 Enhanced, but that one is not old enough and uses SDL (so no gamepad support).

I know I could build it myself (if I find that old files and learn how to do it), but I'm on vacations and I can't download all the programs needed to do it myself.

So.. if anybody has an old openjo_sp build, and can share it with me, it would be very nice. Thanks in advance.

  4. Well, I'm using a modded base folder, but not much, just haps stormtropper, haps imperial officers, an AT-ST mod, and maybe one model mod more that now I don't remember.

I can't say if it's randomly. I test it twice, and it happens at the beginning when came the first wave of rebels.

  5. Well it certainly is fixable, but it depends on the amout of time you want to invest. As you are just starting modding I guess a task as big as recreating a stormtrooper model with the same properties of the skin matching kyles so as to be able to have a torso texture including arms that can be interpreted by the engine as aforementioned file might not be the most motivational one to begin with. But I might be wrong. It'd be best if someone with access to the sourcecode of JK2 could scan the files for above filename and see how this is loaded into the game.

Maybe it's much easier than I assume, then again maybe not :P

I think this project is very cool as it allows for modification of the skin in stealth missions for JK Enhanced e.g.

    Good luck!

Yeah, it's not a motivational problem (actually I enjoy learning and investiging all this stuff, even it seemed hard when I started with it), it's just a 'not enough time to invest' problem, as you said at the beginning.

Let's see if somebody can bring a little more light about that sourcecode thing.

Thanks for the 'good luck' wishes, I will need it xD

  6. When I upgraded the time before last, I noticed it was working well at first but, then something happened. I'm not sure what exactly. The only thing I've done is add some more skins and sabers. I'll try removing them in a temp folder just to make sure that's not it. Anyways, at one time I was getting a stable 125 FPS dipping into the 90s at times, which was very acceptable.

As I said in my second post, you should try to check how the vanilla game works (vanilla= with no mods, no OpenJK,... just the base game with no modifications). But it seems you didn't do it. Try it and then let us know.

And of course, also check all things mjt told you.

  7. So... do you guys have any idea about what mjt said? If this issue with the Stormtrooper is not fixable, it will be nice to know it and I'll stop wasting time :winkthumb:

I can try to help you out but currently I'm a little puzzled how the game actually works with this shader. It's not referenced in the model_default.skin of kyle. I think it's the game itself that makes use of it and your stormtrooper model doesn't have the whole skin in one file but multiple ones. The torso file from kyle includes torso and arms, while this is split up for your frankentrooper... If it is hardcoded it might be an issue but I'm in no position to verify that hypothesis.

  8. You need to make a transparent skin for the stormtrooper and hope that the UV mapping of the stormtrooper body actually allows for that.

I'll show you an example -...

Ok,thanks. I see now why this issue happens. But right now I don't know how to do all this thing you say (higher resolution, alpha channel, transparent skin, and all this stuff, is the first time I hear about that. As you can see, I came here asking for a cvar and I ended up building my first mod xD).

I'll try to investigate about that and try to understand it a little.

    Thanks!

EDIT: of course, I understand what "higher resolution" and "transparent skin" means xD. What I ignore is how to do it exactly.

  9. I'm out of ideas of what can be causing you this low performance.

Maybe... Before your "last updrade" you said, JA worked well? Which component did you upgraded?

One more thing: when you said "openjkx86.exe was added to Nvidia Control Panel with minimal results", did you changed any setting? If you add it but you don't change anything, it's useless. I guess you already know that, but as I said, I'm getting out of ideas.

  10. ups, I've found another issue. Actually, this issue is already in the base JO Haps Stormtrooper model. The first person camera, and only when using the saber, is not in the correct position:

    ggcBrja.jpg

    INxVMQw.jpg

As I said, this also happens if I use the Haps stormtrooper model without modifying it.

How can I fix this? I've been searching for a while how to edit or change first person camera in JO/JA, but nothing.

  11. Congrats on your first frankenstein model., my first is a chiss in a jedi body lol

    xD. Many thanks!

Would have made more sense to make the neck of the Stormtrooper smaller, rather than Kyle's. But nice work regardless!

ummm, I don't know if I understand what you mean. There was no need to make Stormtrooper necklace smaller or Kyle's neck bigger. Haps Stormtrooper necklace and vanilla Kyle neck was the same size (it just need to join it correctly, but as you can see in the first pic in my post #34, both had the same size and they fit quite well).

I've changed and increased both Haps Stormtrooper necklace and vanilla Kyle neck, because a 'aesthetic' reason, not a 'technical' reason. Vanilla Kyle model is a thin and 'weak' model, and that thin neck, looking to the whole vanilla Kyle model, doesn't look disproportionate.

But the Haps Stormtrooper model is a more robust and let's say 'stronger' model, and that vanilla Kyle neck seemed to me a little thin and disproportionate. I think that now looks better, at least for me ^_^

Can you upload the model to the hub? Simple as it seems, I'm sure many have wanted to have this in JO.

Yeah, sure, I'll do it. It's strange that this model was not made by someone before. In Star Wars, the hero wearing the stormtrooper suit it's a classic, at least for me. Well, now it's already done.

  12. Well done pal.

I downloaded your mod and had a look but when I deleted the jaw vertex group from my modded attempt, I got an error that there are unweighted vertex group so it failed :(

So I edited your model to have a smaller neck; not to fond of the larger neck but that doesn't mean that it is not good. I'm not completely happy with it, but it'll do util I learn to do this myself. Peace out bru

I have no idea why you get this error you say. As I said you, later I'll check that early version with this gap issue and I'll tell you if I can fix it mayself.

Of course, if you prefer a smaller neck, that's all up to you ;)

  13. Finally I finished this Kyle Trooper model. I learned some more steps and I even made a bigger neck. I think it looks a little better. My first mod :P

    Vanilla neck:

    eXpkuGH.jpg

    And with a bigger neck:

And that's all, a Kyle + Haps Stormtrooper.

@Redemtion: Yeah, sure, here you have. And whoever wants to use it, take it, of course.

  14. You shouldn't need those 10 fps, because with your rig you should reach 100 fps, even more.

Have you tried whitout OpenJF how works the vanilla game?

Or maybe... in Nvidia Control Panel, set energy settings for JA to 'performance'. I have a friend whose graphic card didn't use all its power in JA because of this, and that fixed for him.
