PeterParker Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Hi everyone, my name is Dan and I'm somewhat new to Jedi Academy, used to play a bunch as soon as a few months/weeks ago on a different PC. I saw there was a Windows 10 Jedi Academy issues thread already but I didn't wanna hijack it.So here's the issue!I got a new laptop, and I'm trying to use to steam to play, but I haven't been able, it gives me an error about opengl etc. I read that I should download something and put it in GameData, which I did, yet that didn't really change much.I recorded it to understand, along with my video card info.I have 8gb ram, if that matters.I read that OpenJK may help but I do not really what I'm to do with it.Thank you! I really want to get back into Jedi Academy, pretty fun!Dan
Sentra Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 http://jkhub.org/files/file/1484-qeffects-pro/ Use opengl32.dll from qEffects Pro and play the game on any Windows.
Syko Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Using OpenJK is easy, just download it here: https://builds.openjk.org/ and put all of the assets.pk3 files from Jedi Academy in the OpenJK folder and start the game, should fix any issues you are having.
PeterParker Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 Thanks Sentra, but it didn't work :/Syko, which OpenJK folder do I put the assets.pk3 in?Are you saying I go to the base folder and get the assets.pk3 (only 1 there) and bring it to the folder that I download that's called OpenJK or the other way around?
Sentra Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Thanks Sentra, but it didn't work :/Strange, cos I have got the same problem recently and opengl32 replacer actually helped me a lot.
Raz0r Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Download OpenJK from http://build.openjk.orgUnzip to GameDataRun openjk.x86.exe Easier than Syko's method, and is the recommended way to do it.
PeterParker Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 Yea, not sure Sentra.Download OpenJK from http://build.openjk.orgUnzip to GameDataRun openjk.x86.exe Easier than Syko's method, and is the recommended way to do it.Thanks for the reply Raz0r.I tried that too, didn't work, recorded it to help you understand/share in my suffering.Really appreciate any help! Any idea what I should/shouldn't be doing?EDIT: The only file in base is assets3.pk3 btw, pretty sure there should be more but no idea how/why
Syko Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 EDIT: The only file in base is assets3.pk3 btw, pretty sure there should be more but no idea how/whyThat might be the problem... here's what you need in your base folder:assets0.pk3assets1.pk3assets2.pk3assets3.pk3To get all of the assets go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Academy\GameData\base , all of the assets should be in there. PeterParker Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 So I was able to get it running, thank you Syko/Raz0r! Only problem now, everything looks very...odd. I uploaded a video for this too, I think you'll get what I feel. I have an Intel Graphics 5500 card and 8 GB of RAM.Thanks!

Raz0r Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Unfortunately the very latest build has a quirky bug related to jpeg loading, due to different versions of a library we use.Hoping to get it sorted today, then you can just redownload the latest OpenJK and it'll work. You may be able to download a previous build from builds.openjk.org and see if that works. Something before Sep 19th should be good. EDIT: Yep, try this build from the 14th =]
therfiles Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 @@Syko: please do not post an illegal link to the game's assets.
PeterParker Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 Ahh it worked, thank you Raz0r! Appreciate the speed and help here Syko, replaced it as you said, thank you And yes Kylo, I downloaded the Tetris version of JKA
