Essential Files for Jedi Academy LAN-gaming

Recommended Posts

During my tests I’ve noticed that unfortunately none of the “activated” cvars have any in game effect.

The listen server runs with the following additional JA++ cvars:

set japp_weaponPickupAlways "1"

set japp_allowLedgeGrab "1"

set japp_ammapAnyGametype "0"

set japp_weaponRoll "1"

There’s no multiple weapon pickup (to refill the ammo) possible and no ledge can be grabbed.

Also rolling with attached rifle isn’t possible.

I’ve got my autoexec.cfg in the japlus directory and when I check the values in the console everything looks ok. :(

The console says "unknown cmd" to both commands :(

I've noticed that during the server load I keep getting errors and warnings like:

ERROR: ui/jamp/ingame_setup.menu, line 2689: unknown menu item keyword

WARNING: unknown token ...

How to get it running?

I have placed all the files in Gamedata/japlus/

--> sh_lua.pk3 / cl_assets.pk3 / sh_animations.pk3 / sv_bins_win32.pk3 / cl_bins_win32.pk3

Created a start.bat with the line openjk.x86.exe +set fs_game "japlus" (also tried the "load mod" method for japlus through the menu).

very strange. I thought it was because you had japlus dll in place of JA++ dll in the My Games/OpenJK/japlus folder (if you played japlus before installing ja++), and delete the files solve the problem, but now, you have another problem.

Maybe try using an older version of OpenJK (before the 6 january 2015).

Have you all original dlls in your Gamedata folder ? (OpenGl, Eaxman ?)

I have problems with JA++ and OpenJK too and I keep an old version of JA++ that can run on my computer (recent versions give me errors)

you can try JaPro in place of JA++. It is another mod like ja++.

I've tested with the OpenJK build 2015-04-13 on XP SP3.

The Eaxman.dll is overwritten by the OpenJK one and I don't have any OpenGL file in the gamedata (only the OpenAL for audio).

I didn't expect that it will be so complicated to get JA++ running :(

But thanks to everybody for all the recent help here.

I have the same OS than you. Try with OpenJK from 6 January 2015.

I will try to put a link for my version of ja++ tonight (an older version which works on my computer, except for siege).

Yeah, sorry it's not OpenGL, it's OpenAL.

It could indeed be XP support. I do plan on getting around to that at some point, but I think it's not going to be easy. I can't just use an older compiler, because I'm using features only supported by modern compilers. These modern compilers don't run on XP, so I have to tweak which windows features are available so it matches the XP feature set.

I've read through some dev boards the last few hours - it really looks like these were "compiling problems" with c++ for XP/Vista (x86).

So probably not fixable by me :(

Would be great if there's a OpenJK JA++ combo which flawlessly works for XP.

Tested some cvars and they work just fine - really great :)

I would be glad if we could find answers to my remaining questions :D

- What is a flipkick and how to perform this? Is this the right click kick?

- How does ledge grabbing work? :)

- Is there a more “comfortable” option for the clients to configure a key for the grappling hook or the jetpack (besides the bind command in the console)?

I’ve found this on the net:

Benefits of JA++ As a user:

It can do everything JA+ can do user wise. It has the ability to make all the console commands be in the Setup menu nice and organized. No more looking around for the arcane commands!

Thank you very much for the working XP files!

They also do a nice job with the latest OpenJK build :winkthumb:

Also many thanks to Raz0r for your continuous help. :winkthumb:

I've found a guide on the net where the flip kick is mentioned:

"FLIP KICK
-Alt kick (when enemy is in front and behind)"

So then this cvar means that there is always a flip kick and it just changes the style, right?

japp_flipKick [default: 0]
Enable JK2 style flipkick

To keep the overview I'll start a new thread for my remaining (cvar) questions.

It would be great if someone can and would like to help me with the answers :)
