Found this awesome video that should help anyone who plays Minecraft out a lot on planning out what they're building by first making a simple 3D mesh inside of Softimage and converting it to voxels. You can do this in the free version of Softimage (Mod Tool).

I got a standalone voxelconverter for .obj files somewhere on my ahrddrive , but that's a nice tool aswell

I could also use 3d coat
