Giving away a free JKA server for a month...(LA)

Yep you got that right.

 

But there's a catch. This was a VPS that I rented but decided to abandon because of lag issues. It's not prominent, about a lil' spike for me on a 200 ping to it but it's intermittent like once in every 20 seconds or so. I'm guessing those on a lower ping won't feel it as much.

 

Twice a day I've also noticed CPU % spikes despite running nothing - those who rent VPS/dedis will know what's going on with the host...*cough* but I did pay peanuts...

 

Anyway, the VPS will be up for another month til 30/12 and since I already have 3 other servers, I'm going to let it go to someone else who can put it to better use.

 

Specs:

 

2.10 ghz

2 GB RAM

10 GB free space

450 GB bandwidth

 

Los Angeles. Windows 2008 R2

 

Please note I've never gotten 200 players connected so I don't know how many people it'll hold but I'm guessing ±50

What you will get:

 

1. Rcon if you don't know what goes into a server.

2. FTP access if you know what goes into a server, but no uploading of porn and violent stuff well basically nothing unrelated to JKA.

 

If you're looking to run big mods (Lugor/MB2/JA+ etc) you're going to have to guide me through it since it's been 2 years >.< I touched any of those.

If you're a mod creator - not talking about small mods but the bigger ones out there - and I see you've got a decent rep within the JKA community, perhaps we can talk about giving you full RD access.

 

Got questions, ask. Don't PM me so others who might have similar questions can benefit Also I'd like to give priority to mod creators because they can enhance everyone's gameplay somewhere in the future rather than one clan's usage.

Can I use it as a hostname VPS for IRC?

Here's the host's TOC, doubt IRC bots fall anywhere in that category.

Well using it as an IRC hostname would be pretty much using it as a proxy, though it was in jest.

@@spior however could make use of it as somewhere to host his SpiBot (an IRC bot) for a bit, since his net sucks.

If anyone wants to see how bad the lag is - I'm quite a stickler for perfection so to me it's unacceptable! - I'll put up a JKA server when I wake.

If there's no takers at the end of the week, I'll join the fight and point out that I've been meaning to get my hands on a testbed VPS to do strange webservery things to.

EDIT: ...Though I'd need root SSH access for that to even be viable
