So I am renting a game server with JA+ installed, the old "japlus_v2.4Build7", it's running on a windows server and all good here. I've been checking this JA++ but I really don't understand how to install the very few files to the server directory, can someone please explain, step by step? Same thing on the client side. And on that note, might be a generic server hosting question but, I'm trying to disable staff and dual sabers and only allow single lightsabers, how can I do this via the server.cfg file on JA+ ? It's not possible in basejka but maybe I'm not aware of something JA+ or ++ added. @Raz0r

JA++ is meant to be a "new version" of JA+ and I believe it will show ingame as JA+. Seeing japlus in the mods menu ingame is literally just showing that folder you dropped the files into and that should still be used. From the japp site: Quote General JA++ is designed as a replacement for JA+, and will mimic many things JA+ does for various reasons. First off, JA separates mods into separate directories next to GameData/base/, and they are loaded by setting the fs_game cvar. When a client connects to a server, they will automatically set their fs_game value to the same as the server. This is how mods are automatically loaded when you join a server. JA++ makes use of this to make it easier for clients to play on JA++ servers with their existing JA+ installation. Instead of JA++ having its own mod directory, it stays in GameData/japlus/ so JA++ client can be used on JA+ servers, and so JA+ clients can connect to JA++ servers. JA++ also does some version sniffing to enable/disable some features, so JA++ will mimic JA+ in these cases (e.g. client-side cjp_client cvar or server-side v and gamename cvars. The way to check your JA++ version is by checking the japp_version cvar. Being on Mac will make this more complicated though, I'm not sure razor has made a working mac version that runs on newer Macs. I also just tried to get this installed on my MacBook M3 and couldn't get it either. Might want to just use OpenJK/EternalJK as the client right now until razor sees this to help. Or you could use Whisky to run JKA in Windows on Mac which is a newer thing that works pretty well actually. I'm hoping to write up a new tutorial on that soon. The benefit to that is you can use any Windows versions of client executable mods that otherwise don't have Mac versions (or outdated Mac versions like JA+).
dontapi Posted April 21 Author Posted April 21 Alright so reg the server setup with JA++, I think I managed to get it to work, below is the server log, seems like it was successful? Also adding my server.cfg that I copied from someone here running JA++ server, but somehow it keeps changing my server to a private one even though I have it set to "0" in the server.cfg You can see in the server log that it changes it for some reason "broadcast: print "Server: g_needpass changed to 1\n"", any reason what that is happening? Regarding the client, I am running OpenJK on my Macbook M2 (mac version) and all good there, and I managed to install JA+, also got it to work I think? And now updated the files with JA++ and some things has changed in game, please see the screenshots, attaching them in the order of going to mods, choosing it and then finding my hosted server and then the new menu options. Please note that the last 3 options are blank: CAM/ADV, GFX/IN, SND/IMP Now how can I make sure the server is working with JA++ and how can I make sure my client side is supporting JA++ with all its extra functions? Whisky though seems very interesting, might look into it!
