Quovarius Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Hi People! I am working on a Texture Pack. I use Ai and different Creative Software, to maximize Details and Resolution. As far as i know now, most of the textures are working fine at 4096x4096. Only the textures with 8192x4096 are working sometimes, but mostly not, and i do not really know what makes the difference here. I try to get the maximum Resolution while having a small file size, like 4096x4096 and 3 Megabytes. 8192x8192 textures are not working well - they show up, when i set the Texture Quality to Medium or high, but with VERY HIGH settings, they appear white, or the game crashes. Also yet working textures are appearing white, if some other texture is not working, i do not know what this is depending on. MY QUESTIONs: Is there a way, to get the game stable to run with 8192x8192 or even bigger resolutions? How much does it depend on the File Size? (Why do the 8192x4096 textures show up, while having reduced texture details? Is there a possibility to easily make the game run, when i format all the textures as TGA-files? Which File Types are supported? Are there any Autoexec lines i could add, to not only enabling higher resolutions, but getting most out of texture details, which you think, could be interesting? Circa Posted March 6 Posted March 6 The biggest question is why bother going above 4k in general? The perceived difference with anything above 4k ingame isn't going to be noticeable unless there is a huge surface that spans an entire map, which isn't the case anywhere in these games. I'd say if you're having issues going that high, stick with 4096 as the max, though I'd say 2048 is plenty for most textures in this game, only a few are stretched in large surfaces to make even 4k worth the size. With that said, your progress looks good so far! Quovarius and SomaZ like this
