  1. Things that could be considered major that will probably get done at some point that I can think of:

    (In no specific order)

    • Fix/clean/gut the sound system to split it off to base / OpenAL (use alsoft + EFX)
    • Persistent console history for clients
    • HTTP/FTP download redirection (using cURL) in the client engine.  URL to use set on server
    • IPv6 support
    • Rend2
    • Shared Renderers
    • VOIP support (from ioq3? network compatibility issues somewhat?)  -- Long ways out

Any other things we want to do like re-factoring and splitting stuff off into static libraries to be more shared is too behind the scenes where users aren't going to care so much in terms of bumping big version numbers.

Major versions should be kept for major changes like the ones posted above.

    .1 decimals for smaller bugfixes

.01 decimals for bugfixes affecting the bugfixes above

    etc?

  2. As I alluded to in a status update, Raven's master server came back online briefly and it's now running on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. Seeing as the IP address was only flipped over recently, I'm guessing they're actively experimenting with bringing the implementation over to today's standards of scalability and stability.

It will be up soon, and I don't think it'll fall back down so easily in the future.

    This sounds right!!

One thing to note is that.......... never-mind, not bothered to say in-case its misinterpreted by morons who took it down in the first place

  3.

    1. I think I heard about it on JKHub for the first time.

    2. It wasn't difficult at tall. Copying the necessary files then modify a bat file to run the game with OpenJK and the desired modification.

    3. I think in my clan there are people who are using OpenJK but I'm not sure if they are on JKHub or not.

    4. To be honest nothing. I'm satisfied with this 'version' of JKA.

  4. This release definitely ushered in a new age

I am one for Open-Source community efforts, especially for things like this as it does drive it forward and often add a new dimension to applications that were considered "fruitless".

I would like to personally Thank OpenJK and the people who work hard at it. Their efforts do not go to waste and I bet if there was a stat that could track number of people running OpenJK and users who play JKA, it would have definitely increased!!!

Muchos Gracios from me and EFF!

  5. It's an issue of manpower & the fact I'm sick of the engine after working hard on every part of the large project. I still think converting DF2 Mod to an MP mod would be best.

As for me, I'm going to stick to smaller projects from now on. I'm currently working on this: http://jkhub.org/topic/3920-terminator-apocalypse If anyone would like to help out, PM me.

This looks nice, and a smaller project that would revitialise your spirits!!

That model of Arnie looks awesome!!!

  6. A shame to hear this DT85, I was keeping up with your progress here with what you were doing, its sad to see how it could turn out like this!

As Moondog says, you can take away with it skill that can be used and adopted elsewhere on the net!!

This community does have a skewed ratio of programmers/modders to users, which can discourage developers from continuing work like this (I am a user as well, so I am part of the problem)

How about taking on something that can take your mind off of it DT85? Like another kind of modding/programing!

  7. It was only relevant if you were already a Google+ user. If you weren't, and had no desire to be, then it was a horrible way to "market" the service. Nobody likes being forced to do anything.

@@ent it's not removed yet. Probably not for a few weeks or months actually.

I was then i stopped because Social networks are a giant waste of life!

  8. Dusty that is right re OEM version!

64bit will make use of more than 4GB RAM, and its encouraged to have to cater for upgrades to hardware upgrades (easier to do on their own, rather than new machine)

Im not sure if Windows 7 is an investment anymore, but with this Start menu coming to 8.1, maybe an investment can be made to 8.1 which makes more sense!
