  1. NOPE. Not dead. Still working on it. It's been slow progress. I'm halfway through the script and I'm currently going through voicers testing the lines so I can properly cast the characters. But as for people to actually help me with the server/a place to film/actually controlling the models, I have nobody.

I've just been busy and usually forget about this site since I'm very new. THANKFULLY I put email notifications for this thread.

  2. Why not use the 1.4 version ?? Works like a charm on my W7 rig . . .

Pardon the double post but now I remembered why I didn't use it. It doesn't save my .map files. I downloaded it again and suddenly recalled after I did a test. I've been through so many versions of these things by now.

  3. I'm intereted in seeing the biggest known map someone made for JKA. I have a pretty ambitious project in mind to create a map that looks like the college I went to. It's a small campus, but in terms of modding it'd be of course pretty huge.

I think the biggest map I have downloaded is Atlantica. Oh and when I mean biggest I mean the most space available for the player to traverse.

  4. Iiiiii am having the same problem.

I have Windows 7 and was using Radiant 1.3 something. It didn't save any of the .bsp files, despite Radiant saying so. I quickly researched and found that it's because Windows 7 is a douche with Radiant 1.3, thus I need a new version. I decided the hell with it and get the latest one, but now apparently I need the JKA pack.

    Why are things so---urgh---hrnnnggggg.

  5. Well, by "owning" a server I didn't mean strictly one you pay for, it could just be a dedicated server or whatever. In the end, we just need a place to gather (while having the same maps the machinima calls for, of course)

A lot of the stuff I have in mind wouldn't be centered around lightsaber combat (or really any kind of sword combat). The combat that occurs is mostly pew pew pew with lasers and explosions and then fisticuffs.

  6. Experience:

I could also help with the server if needed.

Wow, that's really damn good. How did you get the lightsaber fighting to flow so well? (I watched the featured video and then the latest upload - Rosh Penin Volume 100% #7 My Cousin's Cat)

The issue I have with my "server" is that it doesn't show up on the server list. I've been wrestling with it for the past couple of years. When you say help with the server, do you mean you own one?

  7. Hey there, everybody.

For like the past several years, I've been determined to put together a machinima team to make some good shows with JKA. I always found the maps in JKA to be really useful for my ideas (and whatever other ideas others have had). I've had ups and downs with people joining but either they disappeared or there were issues with hosting a sever. I recently tried to make my own, but there are still some issues (elaborated in the tech forum somewhere)

Point is, I'm here to gather anyone who's interested and seriously wants to help out. I have some ideas of my own. The first is a series of episodes that is not Star Wars related but an original idea using JKA. It's called Space Hotel, and uses the Jedi Hotel map as the basis for the story of a floating hotel/resort picking up strange people (and things) from all over the galaxy to give them a place to stay.

In the Star Wars universe, I'm very interested in adapting some classic expanded universe stories I grew up with (Such as Han Solo and Lando Calrissian adventures like Han Solo at Star's End and Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, the Han Solo trilogy, Splinter of the Mind's Eye, etc)

I have a lot of voice actors and actresses at my disposal. I'll be handling the Fraps camera and most of the editing, since I've had so much experience creating videos. Although if any you have any experience too, by all means feel free to join.

Right now, the project really needs people who actually have the game to control other characters. We could come together, whether on a thread here or some instant chat, whatever, to jog around ideas and write stuff up.

The other major problem, actually THE major problem, is the server we'll be using. Like I said, I'm having issues with starting one up. I've been relentless trying to figure it out or figure out another option. Any help is appreciated and I can't wait to talk if you're interested.

I still have to figure out a name for the machinima production team, but that'll be for later.

  8. A college campus.  Pick any notable one in the US.  Would likely turn out awesome.

Funny you should say that. I've ALWAYS had this fantasy to have a map created out of the college I went to - Drew University. I've taken so many pictures of that campus in hopes that someday, somehow, there'll be a JKA map of it. It's a small, nice, cozy campus.

Here's this link I found that has some AMAZING libraries.

By the way. . . number 6 on this looks familiar. . .doesn't it? ^_^

  9. This definitely might sound like a broken record, but this is yet another "my server name isn't showing up on the master list" issue. I've been scouring the interwebs for other resources, and I have looked into this forum in past threads, but alas every situation is unique.

However, I think it might have to do with how I set everything up (or didn't set everything up).

I have my config file with all the necessary tidbits there (I can post it if anyone needs to see for themself). I opened up my ports. My firewall is letting it through. I start up the server and play (I use the same laptop to play on the server) and when I check the console, it says the server is disconnected (or not online, whatever the exact verbatim is).

The hearbeats are being sent, and that part looks normal with all the yellow typing (the proper name for it escapes me at the moment).

And then I realized I may be confused about some things.

There's setting up a dedicated server for JKA and then setting up one for JKA Plus. The latter needs some more things, doesn't it? I got confused overthinking about it a while ago. If I want to make it a JKA Plus server, wouldn't I need to copy the config file into the base of JKA Plus, not the regular JKA base? And wouldn't the config file have differences too? Regardless though, I had my friends check the regular JKA master list and it wasn't showing up. So either way, something's not quite right.

One thing I'm definitely confused about in the config file is setting the max rate and the max client. There's supposedly some equation to calculate? But even if I don't have that right, is that enough to not make the server run?

  10. Back in the Filefront forums, I made a thread for JKA basically titled what I just titled now. And it would be an ongoing thread where anyone could post places (real or fictional) that they'd like to see created into a map for JKA. Whether or not someone actually does create one, doesn't matter. Just for fun and discussion.

    I'll start with some:

The apartment complex from Blade Runner:

    blade_runner.jpg

This random castle on a rock by the shore in who knows where:

    Mont Saint-Michel:

  11. I've been playing this series ever since Dark Forces came out, owning every CD, and Jedi Academy has been the fondest because I found it fun to use for machinimas. I always wanted to make a machinima (Star Wars and non-Star Wars/original ideas) but had people drop out suddenly without a trace. That and also I can never seem to understand why my dedicated server doesn't show up on the server list.

Regardless, I'm glad I found a site that's still active concerning JKA, as the game has fallen into obscurity over the years. But I'll never give up on what I want to accomplish and hope I can find some help. This place looks really cool.
