Exactly. I don't like the idea of steam "Forcing updating games on you". If I want to do it, I should be able to do it myself.

Why wouldn't you want to update your games? There are almost always benefits with them.
Whether there is or there isn't isn't the point. The point is, I should have a choice whether I want to or not.
