  1. I always liked Star Wars mostly for the crazy huge lore. Even if the EU was filled with ridiculous stuff I loved it that way. A lot of people didn't care about EU and only liked the movies in a casual way and that was okay, because the EU always felt like just some extra thing you can choose to care about or not. So the moment they deleted the EU and announced that everything will be tightly checked by Disney to make sure everything makes sense, I realized I wouldn't like Star Wars anymore. The new lore is just nowhere good enough to justify deleting 30 years of old stories.

I didn't like ROS, it felt completely unnecessary (just like the whole new trilogy). It doesn't expand anything beyond the original trilogy since

    Spoiler

the ending is the same as Return of the Jedi. The emperor dies again, balance is restored again "by a Skywalker", everything is the same as before, again.

Also although I don't like using plot holes as an excuse too much, these new movies just have way way too many plot holes compared to the old ones. I mean the old ones probably did too but they weren't so obvious, you wouldn't find yourself thinking too much about stuff that didn't make sense. The old Star Wars movies were simple enough. The sequels have too much stuff that requires you to think and find a way to make sense out of it. The stuff you guys mention above like

    Spoiler

why Luke didn't use his X-Wing or why did killing Palpatine not send Rey to the dark side.

I also thought it was very very tasteless to use Leia the way they did. Her lines are so out of context that it makes her really look and sound like a corpse. And the

    Spoiler

funeral scene where her whole body and face is covered with a blanket while everyone stands around her awkwardly

was just the worst they could do to her as a character and actress.

I wouldn't mind if these new sequel trilogy stories were EU stories. But they are "numbered" Star Wars movies so they are the main part of the lore/story, they need to be of way better quality than what we got.

EDIT: I guess I liked a few things about ROS though: How they expand Rey's character and how they try to answer for most plot holes and questions left from the previous two movies (I like how they mention the Holdo crash). I also liked the planet where they meet Keri Russell's character, it seemed like an excellent location for Star Wars Battlefront. The new droid was also pretty cool. I liked the scenes where

    Spoiler

Rey destroys the alleged prisoner ship of the First Order and the scene where 3PO gets his memory wiped out.

But then they undid those scenes in later scenes and removed any emotional impact, that was a cop out imo.

  2. Sorry for the silly topic but I just remembered that there was a screenshot of an X-Wing in one of the load screens that appear when you are installing Jedi Outcast.

I was pretty hyped about that back when I saw it for the first time.

I would check again and post it but I lost the CDs :P

Anyway, I was wondering, does that game ever let you fly an X-Wing in single player? Or in multiplayer? What X-Wings appear in the game? Why would they include that photo in the installation loading screen?
Or am I confused and there was no X-Wing screen?

I only played the first levels using the original game, then gave it to some friend (and never got it back) and then decided to use the Jedi Academy - Outcast mod to complete the story. So I'm curious if I was missing something.

  3. When I drive the AT-ST from the level where that Imperial guy takes you prisoner and wants to hunt you, it works fine. But if I try the AT-ST that spawns when you type "npc spawn vehicle atst_vehicle", I can't select the AT-ST weapons, only the lightsaber, so I can't shoot. And when I move the mouse around to aim, it doesn't turn its head, it turns the entire body. So for example when I move the mouse forwards to aim down, the AT-ST looks like it's doing the Michael Jackson anti gravity lean :P

I have the same problem with any "walker" type of vehicle I download as well. I'm using patch 101. I tried starting a new game with no mods but the problem remains. Is this problem normal?
    Thanks

  4. Hi. I just read that in the E3 back when Jedi Outcast was about to come out, there was a video where the game had blood, and I saw that the effect names in the files have the word "blood". So I was wondering, does anyone have that old video of the game? And do you know if there's a blood mod that looks the most like Jedi Outcast did before it was censored? I saw two videos on youtube of JK in the E3 but the low quality doesn't let me notice if there's blood in them or not and I'm curious about this.

Also, I got one mod for JKA from Mrwonko's site that turns the lightsaber flesh cutting smoke to red, it's really cool but it makes the assassin droid bleed as well :P is this defined by the NPC class? (for example protocol droids and R2s don't bleed, they just explode)

    Thanks!

  5. Hi, I've been googling this for a long while but haven't found the answer. I was wondering, where is the lighting/darkness of a map defined? I mean what makes the map appear dark like it's at night as opposed to daytime? Is it something that can be changed by editing shaders or the .bsp file's entities? Or does it need to be defined before compiling the map?
I'm not a map maker but I want to try to make small changes to the game's original maps and I'm interested in how this works.
