  1. Here's some screenshots: https://jkhub.org/albums/bxfCi

All the white boxes with text are portals to race courses. One of the portals leads to a CTF map that is also used for racing.

RacePack3 is the only map that has a duel area underneath the main map.

You can see what the race courses look like after they've been ported to JKA on @@videop's YouTube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUne1zELrE5l5c6rEQmJd29x0cOoR66A1

  2. RacePack5 is a continuation of the series of maps we have made. There's RacePack1, RacePack2, RacePack3, and RacePack4. You can download them here: http://upsgaming.com/

The purpose of a RacePack is to provide Q3 defrag courses to race on, areas to duel/FFA on (usually the main area), and a ctf area. I'll post some screenshots so you guys get the better picture. The project involves porting Q3 or JK2 maps into JKA, and fitting them all together into a single map.

RacePack5 has been in development since March, and it's the longest map in development thus far. The other maps took around 1-3 months to make. The reason for this is that we don't have a dedicated mapper for the project. Our coder @@videop, has been doing most the work himself. So we're seeking an experienced mapper to help us out.

  3. I too do not find sense in doing this stuff in JKA, besides perhaps the desire to brag about one's achievements that are obtained easier due to smaller community.

Let me just recreate some map in a game nobody plays and brag about making speedrun records in it.

You also need to keep in mind that the defrag community itself is small. Players from both Warsow Race and Q3DF have been to this JKA server and broken a few records. Although those records are also being reclaimed by JKA defraggers. It just goes to show how competent we are. JKA Defrag brings something new to the table; allowing you to do multiple physic styles and multiple race courses without changing server settings or maps. Also, this a-mountain map is an original map made in JK2 by Acrobat.

  4. You may also be interested in jaPRO, which is a project that was built on OpenJK. It is probably the most actively developed MP mod on JKA right now. It mostly focuses on Defrag, but it also adds in competitive play for full force and saber-only combat. There's also a ranking system with an online leader board.

    Official jaPRO site: http://upsgaming.com/japro/

    Leaderboards: http://upsgaming.com/stats/

    Server-side GitHub commits: https://github.com/videoP/jaPRO/commits/master

You can see some Defrag races done on the server here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6gSq01QghEafASe5VqGHBA/videos

  5. jaPRO brings Defrag to the JA community. There's a total of 9 movement styles that you can compete with on each course <siege, jka, qw, cpm, q3, pjk, wsw, rjq3, and rjcpm>.

For movement styles that aren't so obvious:

qw is quake world, pjk is jka plus cpm, wsw is warsow, and rjq3/rjcpm is rocket jump with q3/cpm.

There's an added "Race Mode" that you can enter at anytime from FFA or spec. This puts you in another dimension so that you can officially record times without any interference. In race mode you are allowed to use /amtelemark, /amtele, and /noclip.

jaPRO also brings back ranked duels with the elo rating system. You can duel in Force, Saber, All guns, or a gun of your choosing. Saber duels has special settings that emulate basejka.

Race times and ranked duels are recorded into a database when you are logged into your account. Ranked duels are only recorded when both players are logged in. The database for the ups server is uploaded daily to the ups site. Check it out here:

    http://upsgaming.com/stats/

There's more features that jaPRO has, but these are the two main ones.

  6. Ok, as of yesterday all the JA servers (3) from my VPS started showing up on the master list

So to those of you having problems with this like me, I guess you just got to be patient.

    Here's my VPS setup:

    Debian Squeeze 6.0 32-bit

Three separate server directories in my home folder (Each one using aluigi patched linuxjampded and assets3.pk3 from caelum's server security guide)

    ServerArk: http://sourceforge.n...ects/serverark/

A scripts directory in my home folder that utilizes Ultimate JKA Server Restarter found here: http://jediknight3.f...er_Linux;115797

I followed most of this guide on initial VPS setup: http://www.usefuljaj...ps-setup-page-1

Followed this guide for key-based SSH logins on Windows: http://www.howtoforg...ed_logins_putty

That's pretty much it besides the random server startup scripts in my home bin folder :)

    ~Good Luck!

P.S. If any of you want a step by step VPS guide let me know, I'll make one. I think the above should be enough for most people.

  7. Ah that makes sense. 1 question though... with bot_minplayers does this cvar count the number of players on the server or the number of players inside the free team? If all players were to go to spec, and bot_minplayers only counts players on servers... then that exploit can be used to crash the server.

  8. Fixed as per msn since you're hosted with JKHub. For those wondering: their forum was using phpBB, with the server tracker being in a forum section's description, which only accepts bbcode. Created a bbcode for them that outputs the japlus server tracker's HTML.

Caelum, could you add the code for that bbcode here so that myself and others can add it to their forums? Thanks :)

  9. Ok so I started write a bunch of VSTRs for my server yesterday, and it's almost complete. But for some reason my bot vstr isn't working the way it should be.

    seta BOTS "say ^3Bots:^5_on,_off"

    seta BOTS_ON "addbot tavion 5 s 0;wait 20;amrename tavion ^7D^1!^7oxi^0DE ^7Recruiting;wait 20;amforceteam 7D^1!^7oxi^0DE ^7Recruiting f;wait 20;amsleep 7D^1!^7oxi^0DE ^7Recruiting;wait 20;amtele 7D^1!^7oxi^0DE ^7Recruiting 229 284 984 0;wait 20;addbot tavion 5 s 0;wait 20;amrename tavion ^3* ^7NF, FF, Instagib, Strafe;wait 20;amforceteam visit s;wait 20;addbot "Kyle Katarn" 5 s 0;wait 20;amrename "Kyle Katarn" ^3* ^7dioxide.jkhub.org;wait 20;amforceteam dioxide.jkhub.org s"

    seta BOTS_OFF "amkick ^7D^1!^7oxi^0DE ^7Recruiting;wait 20;amkick ^3* ^7NF, FF, Instagib, Strafe;wait 20;amkick dioxide.jkhub.org"

Well to put more specifically, the BOTS_ON vstr isn't working. BOTS_OFF works beautifully :) Whenever I would enter "/amvstr BOTS_ON", the server would do nothing. Does anyone have any idea on how I would correct this?
