Flynn you can do it. If you saw my first skin compared to now you'd be shocked. I got the skills now and you'll learn bruh. Just cut your teeth on models.

Could it be just that its hitting the crash because of extension string size? 

 

Does OpenJK work?

I don't think I have OpenJK installed...how do I go about doing that without messing up all my other mods and such

Don't know why you reverted back when the OS isn't the problem, if it were then no one using Windows 10 would be able to play JA and that hasn't been the case.

I reverted because it was causing other problems (weird sound, messed up resolution in CS:GO)

Ok so I reverted back to 8.1 and it still won't work, although now it gives me error messages for both SP and MP...

Did you update your drivers?

Which ones should I update? Would it be like an automatic Windows update or would I have to go find something and do it

I just reinstalled the game and removed all mods, still gives me the same problems

Try running in compatibility mode and as an administrator.

Won't run in either, same problems...something interesting - I only get the message "Jedi Academy has stopped working" for SP, MP it just closes and doesn't tell me anything

Although this is most likely not the case, I had a similar issue on win10 and found out my nvidia control panel tried to force SLI, put it back in single GPU and worked fine.

Soooo....JKA won't start SP or MP for me after I upgraded to Windows 10. It'll get to the first title screen (one before the Lucasarts animation thingy) and then crash. I am using the Steam version of the game if that makes any difference. Sorry if this has already been answered!

Ahh. Ok. Yes, that one is real nice. I enjoy playing it with the track t2_wedge. That one and the Hoth CTF. At Hoth CTF (CTF2?) I enjoy camping at the turrent and zap all bots that come on the way to the base. LoooL

 

Speaking of CTF, I wish they'd put in a better mechanism of the elevators/lifts in the CTF1 map (Imperial something?).

And better bot routing. That was a real nice mappy too.

Elevators in CTF are the bane of my existence...so slow and messed up gah

Also you can stand on top of someone on an elevator and kill them when it goes up

Alright so, without a chance to test either of them, I think I'm going with the Steelseries Rival as my mouse and the Logitech G710 Plus for my keyboard...now to find a monitor

Thanks for the input! One question: for mice do I want wireless or wired? I've been in a few clutch (terrifying) situations in CS:GO where the batteries in my wireless mouse have died, so I kind of want to avoid that, but I'm not sure if there's any significant performance/price difference between the two types.

Hello! So I'm just about to start (with my brother) building our first gaming PC! It's not a gratuitous build, but it's quite a lot better than the laptops we're both currently using. My contribution to the PC (my brother bought all the parts for the PC itself) will come in the form of the peripherals. My question is: what are some good monitors, keyboards, and mice that we could use? My budget for the keyboard & monitor together has to be less than $340, also adding in the cost of a CD drive (probably only about $20 for that though). The mouse I can ask for as a birthday gift, so price is a little less important there, but I'd still like to keep it low. We're not looking for anything insane, just some peripherals that are a better than the average. Thanks!

Thats definitely helpful but i was also wondering whether there was a guide to actualy playing the game. im losing to bots on the lowest difficulty! It seems like a 3d fighting game to me, and thats going to  take some doing to get used to

All the friends that I've made in playing on JA+ CTF Public, can't really pick any one of them or any specific memories but this was really my first online community and therefore my first and closest internet friends

I think I started sometime in 2012/2013 playing JKA, it was a game my brother had played and I really enjoyed the SP for a bit...then I played MP and it got soo much better haha

In terms of using mods, I used filefront (gag) first, until I discovered this wonderful website! Everyone here is really pretty nice and you guys have always been able to help, so thanks

Honestly, JKA was my first multiplayer game- it has just a small enough community that I've been able to make some fantastic friends, learn why internet dating is bad (long story), and just in general become a better person.

Oh yeah and I'm not bad at CTF either

I am curious to hear what is your "remedy" for this "issue"?

I never said I had a remedy, I was just opening up the topic for discussion

Although my usual fix is just to ignore them or mess with them if I can
