Whether you're a Jedi, a soldier or another, fight for the Republic and battle the separatist threat on various planets. Play with other players to complete missions in cooperative mode, take part in multiplayer games with capture the flag or siege, or forge your own history in free to play mode. Discover the saber system the lightsaber OJP, one of the most realistic ever created for Jedi Academy.




Battle for the Republic (BftR) is a project based on the 3D action game Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy®, using the OpenJK engine an the mod Open Jedi Project (OJP). It is inspired by Republic Commando and Battlefront games. The goal is to make a conversion of the game by moving the period of the game to the Clone War and focusing on the coop game mod. Players embody Jedi or Republic's soldiers and carry out through the converted Jedi Academy solo missions. Battle for the Republic is developped as a mod for Jedi Academy but you don't need to get the original game to play.

A class system has been added to the game as far as the customizable equipment. Each class has access to specific equipment/power and has a determined role in the team.

- Prequel music conversion

- adding a special interactive map to launch other coop maps (coming soon in V2) and news coop maps.

 




Class List

Jedis

Sentinel : The Sentinel Jedi is a light side of the Force user. Equiped with a lightsaber, his fighting style and powers are more defensive, he protect himself from the ennemies attacks or try to turn them into allies with his mindtrick power.

Dark Jedi : To better understand his ennemies, the dark Jedi studied the dark side of the Force. Although a user of the dark side, he is still a fighter of the right side. His fighting style is mainly an offensive one.

Guardian : The Guardian has studied the Force Energy and is a specialized in healing himself or awaken his enemies. His fighting style is versatile and he is a imprevisible fighter.

Soldiers

Soldier : The backbone of the army, fighting in every front to defend the Republic. He is trained to use various blasters. His favorite rifle is the clone rifle DC-15, with its great rate of fire and a IEM launcher.

Pyro : With his rocket launcher and different types of explosives, the pyro is used to destroy some highly armored ennemies or to enhance your home design.

Scout : Often before the main troops to gather informations, he can sneak behind ennemi lines with the help of his cloaking device and cause great damages with his handgrenades. His favorite weapon his the sniper rifle.

ARC Soldier : The first attempt of clone troopers, those soldiers are more independant and have followed a specific training. Even if the are using less weapons their strengh is balanced with the use of various gadgets which allow them to perform some tricky moves. They are a perfect Jedi support.

Commando :A small squad send to fulfill precise objectives of sabotage or extraction, the commandos are trained as lonewolves survivors. Their favorite weapon is the DC-17m commando.

Battle for the Republic V2.0 is now available.


Many changes have been made, reason for which we have done an new complete release named V2.0. For those who have already BftR V1.0, we advise to delete the complete folder of the game to replace it with BftR V2.0. Don't worry, all of your config/keyboard settings remain preserved.

 

BftR is only accessible by forum members and can not be public released because it contains stuff from JKA base assets and from other authors from the JKA community.

 

BftR is a package of skins, maps and stuff used with OJP and OpenJK.


V 2.0

Menus :

- new typeface.

-menu texts fixed

- Modification of the "create" menu. Now, it is no possible to create a dedicated server from the game menu because OpenJK is not programmed for that. You must use the dedicated exe by clicking on the file "Server Battle for the Republic.bat". You can always launch your own solo game with bots from the menu.

- added a "MasterServer" line to switch between several Masterservers (Ravensoft, JKHUB, Ouned)

- Fixed the display of customizable skins names.

- Minor improvements.

Gameplay :

- Fixed coop crash bug and npcs textures.

- Fixed vehicules spawn crash.

- Fixed an saber sound loop.

- Fixed bots without textures.

- Overhaul of npc sounds.

- Overhaul of droids.

- New stances for Juyo, Dual and Staff.

- New HD sabers.

- Flags are now semi-transparent.

- Jetpack is no more allowed for Capture the Flag games.

- Minor improvements.

Server :

- Updated server configs. Coop now launchs Alzoc3 map and masterserver is now updated on Raven masterserver.

Classes :

- Change powers of the Guardian because Drain was bugged.

- The Scout has no more frags and he has now the clone blaster in place of the droid blaster.

- The Pyro has no more frags but he has now the droid blaster.

Maps :

- Siege mode is now available with Republic/Federation teams and three maps: Geonosis, Mygeeto and Nabo Theed.

Coop :

- Fixed minors coop bugs. For example, some missions will not more impose their weapons/force config to you.

- "Bakura - Facilities", "Kril'Dor - Sabotage" and "Korriban - Final Battle" are now fixed and playable in coop mode.

- Fixed buildings of "Corellia - The Train Bomb".

- Fixed the crash bug of "Vjun - Incursion"

- Added the Alzoc3 Enclave map. It contains a lightsaber training room and a weapons training room. Several masters will offer you various missions, allowing you to automatically launch a coop map from Alzoc.

- Added two coop maps which take place on Olosys from the "Privateer" campaign mod. You will help the Delta Squad to deliver the city from the Federation.

Looks interesting, but the quality of the trailer is atrociously bad. I'm a bit surprised that in 2015, people still haven't figured out that there are excellent alternatives to third-party video capture programs (and there really is no excuse for using third-party capture programs for anything but streaming to begin with). If I managed to capture constant 30 fps footage back in 2004 on the highest settings with a high res, maxed out FSAA etc on a PC that could barely run jka with textures on, then you guys can do the same. You've put so much effort and work into that mod, I'm sure taking the time to do a bit of research on video capturing and then bringing out a trailer that does justice to the mod would be an excellent idea.

the problem is not the program, the problem is my computer (old XP with a graphic chipset for desktop which has difficulties to run games). :D

My JKA can not run higher than 640x480 with a capture program (and 800x600 without... yes, in 2015, some people play in 800x600 :D )

Battle for the Republic V3.0


Battle for the Republic V3.0 is now available.

V 3.0

Game :

- Overhaul some vehicules conversion

- Jedi trainer on Alzoc 3 has been fixed and now attack properly.

Fixed lightning level 1 and 2 visual effect.

Added an option to switch the HUD in Setup, video.

New pistol model.

- Added pictures of powers, weapons and gadgets in the skills selection menu.

- Added a "Respawn" button in Pause quit menu.

- Added a slide in the Pause menu to allow looking around when in meditate position.

- Fixed a possibility to crash a coop server when the player use some special skins.

- Modified animations of Makashi, Juyo, Dual and Staff.

Oh guys, long time I have no posted here :D

V 3.1 JUNE 2015

Game :

- Added a Class button in the Pause menu to change your class. It will reset your XP and score.

- Added Force sensitive objects in training rooms on Alzoc III and Venator maps.

Coop :

- Improvement of "Geonosis - Survival"

Menus :

- Fixed the option of the frag and flag limits in the local game menu

Game :

- Added a "Weather" button in the "Setup" panel of the Pause menu, to change the weather.

- Added a "Chatbox position" option in "Setup => Advanced" to switch the position of the chatbox between the top and the bottom of the HUD.

- Added a slide in the Pause menu to change the view distance.

Siège :

- Balanced all siege class.

- On "Siege Battle of Geonosis" : increased health of objectives. Fixed SBD npcs. Time to hack doors increased to 2s (classe technicien).

- On "Siege Battle of Theed": fixed objectives display.

- Added siege maps: "Siege Template" and "Strike on NarShaddaa".

V 4.0 OCTOBER 2015

Menus :

- Added items binds in Controls panel. All force Powers were put on the same panel

- Added a dedicated class menu. Only weapons and class powers are displayed. Gadgets and neutral powers are not displayed

Game :

- Added some clones and jedis skins

- Added the original OJP HUD in HUD setup (Conifg => Video)

- Updated all classes of BftR. "Dark Jedi" is now known as "Consular". See our forum to know the new classes

- TeamHeal and TeamEnergize are now avalaible to all jedi classes during TFFA, CTF and CTY games

- New model for the DC-17m Commando weapon (from MBII)

- Added effects with npc spawn command. Only "/npc spawn effect_fire" and  "/npc spawn effect_campfire" are avalaible now. Other effects will be added in the future

Serveur :

- Added an Autorestart on "Server Battle for the Republic.bat"

- Default values of Min XP and max XP changed to 60 / 120

Siege :

- Decreased soldier speed from 1.20 to 1.10

- Added "The battle of Hoth" siege map, with a timer of 15min. Playable in CTF and TFFA modes too

Coop :

- Added "Dantooine - Enclave" map, another Jedi Temple with npcs, dedicated to RP.

Autres :

Here is a part of a trailer we are doing about our RP. I release it because Alden is busy and I don't know when he will be able to finish it and correct errors. It is actually just a small part.
It is a direct ingame footage: we did not use devmapall, neither npc spawn, spectator mode or any cheat command.
What you watch is just what you have when you play BftR.

Several mods have camera options so we added our own camera system too :P It is still in beta and will be avalaible in BftR 4.2.

You can notice the two "Screenshot" button to take screenshots with and without hud.
