  1. I seem to have figured out the problem. If you launch singleplayer, and open any of the menus or click any of the buttons (even just hovering over them) the audio cuts off. Easiest way to reproduce is to just hit tab to look at mission objectives in SP. It's not a problem of audio quality, quality is fine, it's the menus that are somehow breaking up the audio.

Weirdest thing is in multiplayer the problem doesn't exist, so if you only play MP you won't experience what I'm talking about.

Another MP bug that I found is in a bot game if you disable force and weapons they still spawn with force and weapons... while in retail jamp.exe it works as it should.

  2. Hey man,  thanks for that! Maybe label it somehow, it seems kinda non-obvious?

I have more feedback. could the text in the light theme have just a little more contrast? Now the text is grey on white, which is a little hard to see and not ideal. On the dark theme it's fine, White on black text as it should be. On a light theme it should be black text on white background.

I'm also wondering is this site optimized for Mozilla browsers? On Firefox sometimes it seems awfully slow. Both desktop and mobile. It's very inconsistent, right now it's fast but next time it could take forever to load. I tested briefly on Edge and there it was OK.

  3. If you recall EAX is disabled by default even on retail Jedi Academy. At least on my copies it's never on by default. No, EAX isn't enabled. On x64 it's greyed out, i.e. not even an option.

Likewise using EAX downgrades audio to 22Khz, and I want to use 44Khz.

If you don't have broken SFX, are you on Windows 10 or 11? I'm also trying to get to the bottom of this in GitHub, it' proving to be quite a challenge...

  4. Since when did this website become dark with no option for a light theme? All other sites and forums I'm on there's a light theme. I liked the old theme of JKHub, having that as an option would be great!

Also, everything's rounded, I hate that trend too... please, stop with that nonsense! Will ya??? 😛😛

  5. Does anyone else have sound that lags on Windows 11?  I just installed openJK and the sound in the main menu is just very bad, there's a major delay, and sometimes the audio cuts completely, like the sound effects are incomplete. Sometimes they don't play at all. I posted this on https://github.com/JACoders/OpenJK/issues/798  so if relevant parties want to comment there, feel free! Like I said on GitHub, I did not bother going any further because first impressions and all that, I'm going to assume the game is broken!

  6. Hey all. So today I installed jka on linux (Linux mint 17.3) with playonlinux and had it configure the game with Wine version 1.9.3. Everything appeared to run smooth, I tried singleplayer and it ran fine. I did not actually install the linux version of openjk, I installed the Windows version, extracted it to the playonlinux virtual Windows drive just like you would do on Windows. Launching the game vanilla made it lock up, but it worked with openjk.

But when I tried multiplayer the console wouldn't open in the main menu (I didn't try the console in singleplayer. I also re-bought the game from GOG.com because the game wouldn't install from my disks.

Can anyone help me? Really wanna get this game on linux.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. /ignore :)

This is what I do, and why everyone else who are annoyed at trolls and unfriendly people should also do. Don't feed the trolls, please. I've been using this more often now, it is is such a helpful command when you don't want to deal with trolls and the like, or when someone starts spamming useless binds. It cleans up some of the mess in the chat.

  8. I think we should ask if there's a reason for us to keep our Master Server alive now. Now that Ravensoft is back and with improved technology on their end. Let's hope it stays this time

And indeed, this game still has a large player base and people are still interested in buying this game. There's enough reason for them to keep it alive. And if Ravensoft was as "greedy/evil" as other game developers and/or publishers I don't think they would have open sourced this game at all.

  9. Hello, I'll get back to this soon. Yesterday I moved the .dll file in the OpenJK folder to base and multiplayer started fine, however when I connected to a server (JA+ server to be exact) it crashed when trying to connect.

    Still confused.

  10. Hello, I'm also trying to install openjk. I got singleplayer to work (I moved fabulous_openjk.pk3 to base, everything else copied to GameData), but when I star multiplayer it crashes. It's a standard crash with the "windows is searching for a solution" prompt coming up. Do I also need the .dll that is also in the OpenJK folder in the base folder, just like the .pk3?

  11. I had this exact problem when I tried out one of your mods (dusty's patch). During single-player cutscenes I got the bad playermodel error. But when I removed the mod and played vanilla the issue was gone. So I am not sure of what might be casuing this. But if you're also getting it when playing no mods then that's really strange, I've never had such a problem.

You could do a re-install and see if it helps. But in my case I don't know what I could do. I might try the commands and see if those help.

Just thought I'd let you know this, as you're not alone with this..

  12. It all goes in your GameData folder, except for the pk3, that goes in base. You also might need Visual C++ 2010.

Thanks. I'll see what I can do to get it installed correctly...

Oh, and my OS is Windows Vista, I bought a used desktop PC a week or so ago, so I'm no longer stuck on a stupid laptop, lol. I'll post specs later if it's needed (If I run into problems..).

  13. Will need a bit more details other than that? system specs + OS, install location (where the openjk.x86.exe is), How did you launch it, Were there any sort of error messages at all or any console window showing up with error?

Did you even "install" it correctly so that it could find your assets?

I'm not sure if I even installed it correctly, yes. I just copied it to base and then copied assets 1,2 and 3 there and some other files, maybe (It did seem to launch). Is that how you're supposed to do it?

I'm sorry, but there are no clear instructions that I could find on how to install openJK. No readme or forum post. I'd be happy if you could point me to the instructions.

  14. I said this in my intro post but thank you again for your work on maintaining the master server for JKA. I'm using the All seeing eye server browser and it's perfect.

I tried openJK but it wouldn't work, nothing showed up. Are you supposed to install some script or something for openjk?
