Cerez Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Forgive my total ignorance -- please bear with me -- but what exactly is rend2? I've been hearing a lot about it on the forums, and about its LOD support and the like, but I can't find any information about what it really is and how it's exactly meant to improve on the JK visual/gameplay experience. So, what is rend2?
Xycaleth Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 OpenJK adds the ability for graphics renderers to be swapped in/out at run-time. rend2 is a heavily work-in-progress new renderer which brings some shiny modern rendering techniques like normal maps, real time lighting/shadows and stuff. Check out stuff here: http://jkhub.org/topic/2804-rd-rend2/page-3
Cerez Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Oh, I see! Cool. Thanks @@Xycaleth, that explains it.
Barricade24 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I guess I'm not the only who didn't know what it meant but now I know. And knowing is half the battle. Bek likes this
