Ban, Banned, or Banished is a term used in many games that refers to a user or player being unable to play on a server. This can be done by the server admin using the server commands. The play will no be able to return unless they either are Unbanned by the admin or the IP address they used at that time is changed.

Admins can manually block entire ranges of IPs, usually as an attempt to ban players with dynamic IPs, or to block entire countries. Depending on how the internet service provider responsible for the IPs distributes them, this can result in other players being accidentally banned, usually, players from the same geographical region as the targeted player. A range ban is a different form of ban, which the players IP range (that is the number which specifies the players region code) is banned, therefore disallowing the player to bypass it through means of dynamic IP addresses. The nature of the ban also means that anyone else that is part of the specific region that was banned will also be banned as well. Since JKA does not allow for individual range codes to be removed from one range ban, admins tend to use a range ban as a last resort for players who are extremely disrespectful towards rules.

A ban is when a player has been banned or banished from a server by its admins. A banned player will no longer be able to return unless they either are unbanned by an admin or they access the server via a new IP.

In JKA, bans are handled by IP, this means that when a player is banned, their IP is added to a list of banned IPs, and anyone attempting to connect from that address will be unable to connect. For this reason, bans are not effective against players who have a Dynamic IP Address.

Range Bans

Admins can manually block entire ranges of IPs, usually as an attempt to ban players with dynamic IPs, or to block entire countries. Depending on how the internet service provider responsible for the IPs distributes them, this can result in other players being accidentally banned, usually, players from the same geographical region as the targeted player. It is usually only used as a last resort.
