Tatooine is a remote desert planet, originally introduced in Star Wars: A New Hope film. Originally the starting point for the adventures of Luke Skywalker, the main hero in Star Wars Original Trilogy, it became an iconic location, often seen in books, comics and video games. Since then Tatooine debuted in dozens of sources, including KOTOR video game and the prequel trilogy. In JKA series the Player is offered to complete two missions on this planet.

Overview

Tatooine is a remote planet in the Outer Rim of the Galaxy. Having two suns and a harsh sandy environment, this planet has been known to many as a hive of "scum and villainy", and was often the favorite place for pirates, mercs and adventurers. Having only a few cities in relatively cool regions, the planet boasts a rich native fauna, which includes Banthas, Womprats, Eopis and ferocious Krate Dragons. The planet also has two native peoples - Tusken Raiders and Jawas. While the first are often aggressive and would attack on sight any outlander they encounter, the latter are mostly friendly and often dwell near the spaceports and market areas of Tatooine.

The planet is also known for having a community of moisture farmers, scattered around the planet, as well as for a large pod racing track. The Hutt Cartel also has a strong presence on Tatooine with Jabba the Hutt being the most notorious Crime Lord even outside Tatooine, who until Battle of Endor ruled the place from his leisure Palace near the Dune Sea.

In Jedi Academy

Tatooine appears for the first time in Jedi Academy game. Jaden Korr, the protagonist has the option of visiting this planet twice, first dealing with the Tusken raiders in the canyon with stuck Jawa crawler. Initially the young Jedi has to meet up with a trader, who has the information on the Disciples of Ragnos cult, but fearing for his life he sold his R5 unit with this data to Jawas.

Jaden returns to Tatooine again, when he has to deal with multiple thugs in the spaceport of Mos Eisley. In this mission he is accompanied by Kyle Katarn, who starts investigation of his own. Meanwhile Jaden meets Chewbacca, also stuck in Mos Eisley (presumably with Han on a mission from princess Leia), with whom they repel the attack of mercenaries. A Sith Cultist was also present in this location.

In mods

Tatooine is featured in many modifications, made for JO and JA, including such notable works as Nina mod, Crash on Tatooine and KOTF among many others. Quite often these include familiar places like Boonta Eve Podrace tribune or Mos Eisley cantina, while some introduce something new like Mos Kreetle in Jedi Knight Galaxies.

Maps

The first maps with Tatooine were created for Jedi Outcast long before the JA texture pack was ever released. Most of these were made for Multiplayer, like the Anchorhed spaceport and Mos Eisley cantina. Some levels were included into Single Player campaigns as well.
