Magnavolge was a multi-game server hosting service. It was the official server provider and sponsor of MBII. It offered game servers at fairly low rates, which are comparable to other services. They used a fairly generic The Game Hosts web interface to control their servers. Their customer service was lackluster, and they have been known to have very little knowledge about server hosting in general. They offered 2 32-slot servers for $25/mo.

Controversy[edit]

Magnavolge has come under increasing fire in recent years due to their lack of knowledge about Jedi Academy, and running servers in general. One of their more infamous exploits involved changing the name of jampded.exe in order to "thwart off DDoS attempts". When the DDoS bouts began against Movie Battles II servers, several dozen unrelated servers were taken offline, with claims that they had been found to be proliferating these DDoS attacks. Evidence that these servers were actually involved remains to be seen, but some have suggested that spoofed IP addresses may have been involved.

Magnavolge enforces a higher than normal com_hunkmegs, despite this cvar having no use in the game.

Magnavolge banned the use of Gunslinger's Academy and OJP on its servers, after it was alleged that the mod had caused "instability and issues" on other servers, whilst there is no evidence to support this.

Several Magnavolge servers swapped IPs with one another, causing players to connect to unintended servers. This also caused several server hosts to control the wrong servers, and have incorrect numbers of slots. Several hosts asked for a refund, or a voucher for extra slots, and initially these requests were not fulfilled. Magnavolge eventually gave out vouchers for 12 extra free slots for 3 months to those affected by instability issues.
