The lightsaber is the signature weapon of the Jedi, and one of the primary weapons in the Jedi Knight series ever since the release of Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. It is a a melee weapon which can be used to attack in close range, deflect most projectiles and can be thrown with the Force.
There are three types of lightsaber styles:

In Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the following lightsaber colors are available to the player:

Availability
In Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, only the single saber was available, being unlocked after the first few missions in single player.
In Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the player start with a single saber with only Medium Style available. Later the player can unlock more styles, or switch to either Two-Handed Saber or Dual Sabers.
