Tatooine is a remote desert planet located in the Outer Rim. It was originally introduced in the film Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the player is offered to complete two missions on this planet.
Overview
Having two suns and a harsh sandy environment, the planet has been known to many as a hive of "scum and villainy", and was often the favorite place for pirates, mercenaries and smugglers. Having only a few cities in relatively cool regions, the planet boasts a rich native fauna, which includes banthas, dewbacks, rontos, womprats, eopies and ferocious krayt dragons. The planet also has two native peoples - Tusken Raiders and Jawas. While the first are often aggressive and would attack on sight any outlander they encounter, the latter are mostly friendly and often dwell near the spaceports and market areas of Tatooine.
The planet is also known for having a community of moisture farmers scattered around the planet, as well as a large podracing track. The Hutt Clan also has a strong presence on Tatooine, with Jabba the Hutt being its most notorious crime lord, who until Battle of Endor ruled the place from his leisure palace.
Jedi Knight series
Tatooine appears for the first time in Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
