The Valley of the Jedi.

Valley of the Jedi is an ancient burial place of many Jedi, who died during the seventh battle of Ruusan during the New Sith Wars some one thousand years before Battle for Yavin IV. It was located by Morgan Katarn during the Galactic Empire time and after Battle of Endor it was invaded by Dark Jedi Jerec.

Overview

Some thousand years before Palpatine, the Jedi were fighting a war against the Sith. The conflict was coming to an end, when the Sith leader Kaan planned to use a super weapon - the thought bomb against the knights of Light. The Jedi Order was lured into a trap, but a Jedi by the name of Hoth tricked the Sith, leaving most members of his army behind, taking only ninety nine knights with him. The Sith detonated the bomb, but the ultimate explosion went uncontrolled, killing both the Jedi and all the Dark Force users, thus ending the conflict with many believing the Sith to be gone forever.

In memory of this sacrifice a memorial was to be built, however it rose many arguments among the members of the Jedi Order. Despite the decision of Jedi Council, Hoth's former apprentice, Johun Othone constructed the monument in memory of the fallen Jedi, creating a large hall, decorated with bas-reliefs and large statues - all these were made of different materials to attune the Jedi heroes, who came from different planets to face one fate. Due to the nature of events, which took place there, the whole complex became very powerful in the Force, representing a Force Nexus, one of the most powerful in the Galaxy.

After the battle of Ruusan, some believed, that the spirits of the Jedi were trapped in the Valley, and a prophecy was born, that one day they would be freed by a 'Knight'.

As the years passed, the coordinates of Ruusan were lost in time - most people didn't know of its existence, while some later generations of the Jedi even considered the Valley of the Jedi to be a myth.

During the rise of the Empire it became evident, that the planet could be used by the Emperor and his Dark acolytes, so when Morgan Katarn accidentally found Ruusan, Qu Rahn, a fugitive Jedi put much effort into hiding the location of the Valley of the Jedi from the Sith.

In Jedi Outcast

Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors are the only survivors of "the Valley of the Jedi incident", the fact, that urges Mon Mothma to ask them both to take a mission to Kejim after New Republic Intelligence intercepts the messages of the Remnant forces, involving the Valley and some Reborn. The investigation of the Imperial activities leads Katarn to Artus Prime, where he encounters Dark Jedi Desann. He captures Jan and orders his apprentice Tavion to execute the pilot aboard their shuttle, while Desann taunts Kyle and eventually defeats him with his Force powers. As they leave Katarn decides to go to the Valley of the Jedi to regain his Jedi powers and avenge his friend's death.

Kyle sees his father as a Force Ghost.

There near the Force nexus a Force Ghost of his father comes to warn Kyle of the dangers, that await those who use the powers of the Valley. Taking notice of his father's words, Kyle nevertheless enters the nexus and begins his forgotten path as a Jedi.

This events however are part of Desann's plan - they follow Kyle after he leaves Ruusan and use the powers of the Valley for themselves, creating an army of Reborn warriors, which would later attack the Jedi Academy on Yavin IV. After Luke Skywalker learns of Desann's plans, he sends a group of Jedi to seal the Valley for good.

In Dark Forces II

The Valley of the Jedi is sought by Dark Jedi Jerec, who sees himself as the new Emperor of the Galaxy after battle of Endor. After capturing Qu Rahn, he learns, the the coordinates of the planet are concealed in the house of Morgan Katarn, a Rebel sympathizer, whom Jerec had personally executed on Sulon six years prior. His apprentice Sariss is tasked in retrieving the map to the Valley, which are later deciphered by 8T88, information droid. Kyle follows the steps of this group, trying to stop Jerec and his Dark minions. However he arrives on Ruusan only when the Empire has already built a huge facility around the Valley in preparation for Jerec's arrival.

Kyle then infiltrates the many different military installations on Ruusan and even has to defeat several Dark Jedi in order to get to the Valley, where he confronts Jerec and saves the Galaxy.
