The (JAWA) Clan was founded by Matt and Iniowe in October of 2004.  They didn't have a dedicated server, but instead played on ClanWarriors, a server that hosted a number of nascent clans in the early years of Jedi Academy.  At this time the clan established its traditional red and green tags, the first version of the clan's ranking system, and distinguishing it from other clans, members were expected to use the [[Jawa]] model.  During this period, Matt recruited a young player named Link, and began to train him.  Around late December, Iniowe ranked Link up to Full Member, at the time the highest rank below that of Leader.  However, by this time Iniowe had lost interest in the game, and after promoting Link he departed the server, never to return.  Soon afterward, Matt also disappeared, leaving a clan of about ten members.  Without attention from the clan leaders, the other members dropped out one-by-one, until by February, only Link remained, hoping for Matt's return.

However, nothing could destroy the comradery developed by (JAWA)'s core group of players, and they decided to form a new clan, called "Friends of (JAWA)", or FoJ.  After only a short time, they decided to re-launch the (JAWA) Clan with its own server and forums in January, 2006.  Having learned much about responsible leadership during the clan's first year, Link and his trusted friends, including Kel'Born and DragonGirl, or Draggy, established a leader-led council and a set of procedures to prevent the clan from going out of control as it had in 2005.  The next year had its ups and downs, such as when the clan tried and failed to merge with the Berserker Blitz Academy (-=*BBA*=-) over the summer, and when other members left to form new clans, including Orzhov and the Concordance of Fealty.  But many of those who joined (JAWA) in 2006 would go on to shape the clan for many years to come.

The next several years saw the clan grow from a few dozen to over a hundred members—a number previously reached in the chaotic months of late 2005, but this time kept in good order by a watchful council and admins.  The ranking system took its present form, with the lower-ranked members wearing light blue (cyan) ranks, and the leadership wearing yellow ranks, along with those who had proven great skill or loyalty to the clan.  Kel'Born began teaching a weekly class, which became known as "(JAWA) School", teaching basic combat techniques, acrobatics, and other subjects.  Link and the council actively sought out alliances with other clans whose members frequented the (JAWA) server, and established a recurring tournament for all allied clans, known first as the "(JAWA) League Open Tournament", then the "JAWA Ally Open Tournament".  Regular admin training ensured that the server was well-patrolled by responsible and professional admins.  In 2010, the clan inaugurated its first full clan map, the (JAWA) Temple.

A number of members served alongside Link with the Leader rank over the years, but few for more than a few months, and eventually Link shouldered the burdens of leadership alone.  In 2013, Link began looking for a possible successor to take the reins of the clan, and allow him to step back, and perhaps retire from the daily responsibilities of leadership.  After consulting with his longest-serving advisors, he decided upon Nightwing, who had proven to be responsible, creative, and a great influence on the clan since joining early in 2012.  On March 2, 2013, Nightwing became only the second long-term leader in the clan's history, serving in that capacity until the end of 2018.  Nightwing encouraged the development of new programs, and the renewal of old ones, helping to revamp (JAWA) School, admin procedures, and re-establishing the (JAWA) Knights, the clan's official TFFA team.  He also led the way in reviving the clan's art contests, particularly "Signature of the Week" and other competitions.  His boundless energy finally allowed Link to step back from leadership, and eventually enter retirement.

Before Link turned over leadership of the clan in 2017, Nightwing appointed Jacobie to be his Co-leader after Link stepped down. The next few years were a period of adjustment, as both Nightwing and Jacobie needed time away from leadership, but on each occasion other members stepped up to help the clan hold together, and continue its many traditions, which in turn continued to draw new members even as older members retired or became inactive.  Most recently, long-time members TheDoctor and Crysophylax served in this capacity, until Jacobie's return in the summer of 2022.

== Alliances ==
(JAWA) has had numerous allies over its life span, and some like The Angels of Fire stuck around for many years. Sadly, some alliances were broken within weeks, such as Unity of Legends. Currently, (JAWA) has three active alliances and several retired ones. Active allies are those who actively host events, come to (JAWA) server, and generally contribute as allies. (JAWA) is constantly look for new allies throughout the community.

== Rules ==
The goal for (JAWA) clan is to make the server and forums a friendly and enjoyable space for members and guests. In order to achieve this, the following rules have been drawn up. They apply to first-time visitors as well as experienced clan leaders. The rules can be broken down into broad categories to make it easier to find the rules for each type of activity. Please keep in mind, other servers have different rules, or no rules at all. If a player would rather not follow the rules, it is suggested they join a server that is more accommodating. If a rule is found to be disagreeable by the community, they may suggest an improvement by contacting a member of the (JAWA) Council, or posting on the (JAWA) forums.
On the server, violations may be reported to a Server Admin by the user opening their console (using SHIFT-Tilde [ ~ ]) and typing "/amsay <name> is <insert rule breaking here>!" This message will only be seen by the admins. If no admin is available, the player may post a report in the (JAWA) forums.
It is important that the community has faith in (JAWA)'s server admins and forum moderators to do their jobs fairly and impartially. But nobody's perfect, and mistakes will happen. If a rule has been wrongly applied, or a player has been treated unfairly, please contact any member of the (JAWA) Council, or one of the (JAWA) Leaders. The report will be kept in the strictest confidence.

| Server Rules
| Only members of the (JAWA) Clan may wear (JAWA) tags. Do not impersonate (JAWA) clan members, or any other gaming community. Avoid spamming any action for the purpose of annoying other players. This includes the repetitive use of binds, emotes, taunts, calling map votes and the grappling hook; actively goading or flipkicking someone, or repeatedly challenging players who have shown they are not interested. The use of wallhacks and aimbots is strictly prohibited. Do not recruit players for another clan or gaming organization involved in Jedi Academy without the permission of the (JAWA) Clan. Do not advertise personal or commercial web sites on the server. Do not engage in any kind of sexual activity on the server, including simulated sex or acts representing sexual humiliation.
FFA Rules: It is permitted to attack players whose lightsabers are drawn, or whose fists are up (melee). Attacking players who are speaking or protected by green bubbles is not permitted, even if their lightsabers are drawn or their fists are up. In the course of training, a player may engage in behaviour that would otherwise be considered laming. Please make the admins aware of any training in progress, and please avoid high-traffic areas while doing so. Do not fight in areas where unarmed players have gathered to rest or talk. If two or more players are engaged in a melee fight, a player may only attack them using melee. Any action that normally causes harm to other players is considered an attack, irrespective of the amount of damage. Flipkicks are considered attacks, as is deliberately hitting other players with the grappling hook.
Rules for Other Events and Games: Please pay attention with the event host and all admins. Players who violate event rules, ignore instructions, or otherwise disrupt an event may be forced to spectate. Unless otherwise instructed by the event host, do not call votes for other maps during an event. In events other than Power Duel, please do not change teams without permission from the event host. Unless the event host states otherwise, a player may duel before the event goes "live," but attacking unarmed players is not allowed. Do not use chat mode in order to avoid being attacked. In TFFA mode, players may attack one another after the event goes "live," unless the player is speaking. In CTF or CTY mode, players may attack each other after the event goes "live," even if the player is speaking. Unless otherwise instructed by the event host, do not switch teams in Power Duel in order to avoid reaching the win limit. If a player is AFK during a Duel or Power Duel event, they may be spectated and returned to the end of the line when their turn is reached.
Rules for Force, Weapons, and Vehicles: When Force or weapons are enabled, a player may attack other players whose lightsabers are drawn, whose fists are up, or who are holding weapons. A player may not attack players who are not participating in the event. Unless otherwise directed, a player may not attack other players merely because they are riding or piloting vehicles. A player may attack vehicle users who are fighting.
Admins and Rule Violations: Please report rule violations to the admins using /amsay. If no admin is present, or the admins are busy, a player may report rule-breakers on the (JAWA) forums. When an admin is present and dealing with a rule-breaker, do not get involved by spamming admin binds or asking people to follow the rules. Please listen to the admins at all times. A player cannot ignore an admin's request because they disagree with it. If they believe that an admin has misapplied the rules, the player may contact a member of the (JAWA) Council, or post in the "Report Admin Abuse" section of the forums. Do not avoid punishment by spectating, disconnecting, reconnecting, or by exploiting bugs or using scripts. Please step away from players who have been slept, so that the admin can speak to the rule-breaker without distractions.

| Forum Rules
| General Forum Rules: Please avoid "bumping" old topics. Most topics are considered stale after one month without any new posts. Instead, start a new thread, unless there's an important reason why the new posts should go in an older thread. Users should edit their posts instead of "double posting" in a topic before anyone else has had a chance to reply. Avoid posting personal information, such as a personal address, or anything that the user might have given as the answer to a security question (such as a pet's name), especially in public areas of the forums. Do not post audio or video files that play automatically when the post is viewed. Do not post copyrighted material, pirated software, or images or discussion of an adult nature. This includes discussions of drugs, sexual activity, or images containing nudity. Please report inappropriate material using the "report" button at the bottom of each post.
Signature and Avatar Rules: Avatars may not be wider than 135 pixels, or taller than 200 pixels. Signatures may not be wider than 500 pixels, or taller than 250 pixels. Signatures may not include Flash Video or Audio, but may be a gif. Users are limited to one signature, but may add up to two small user bars (Example), or a maximum of five small icons. All avatars and signatures must adhere to the general rules regarding inappropriate material. Signatures and avatars violating these rules may be resized or removed.

| Clan Rules
| General: Members may not join other Jedi Academy clans. If a member believes that joining another Jedi Academy-related group should be allowed because it is not a clan, they must first check with the (JAWA) Council. Members are expected to remain active on both the server and forums. If they know that they will be unable to join the server or forums for more than a few days, please post in the "Hi/Bye/Away" forum. Members who are away for an extended period without notice may be removed from the clan. All members are expected to vote in applicant polls. If a member has not yet met an applicant or have been unable to form an opinion, they may vote "undecided", and change their vote when they have come to a decision. From time to time, members are required to participate in surveys or other activities. Unless a member has been excused by a clan leader, participation is required as a condition of remaining a member of the clan. Information in private areas of the forums is strictly confidential, and may not be shared with non-members. This is especially true of sensitive information, such as personal details or discussion of whether to allow an applicant to join the clan. Members must feel free to express their opinions without the fear that those opinions will be made public, or shared with an applicant. All members are expected to abide by the decisions of the clan leaders and the (JAWA) Council. All members should obey the instructions of council members; on the server, non-admins should respect the instructions of admins. If a player believes that an admin or council member has acted inappropriately or misapplied the rules, they may contact another member of the council or one of the leaders. Anything they say will be treated with the strictest confidence.
Tags and Ranks: Except as otherwise provided, (JAWA) members may wear (JAWA) tags & ranks of any colour at all times aside from official (JAWA) events. The blue ranks may be abbreviated to accommodate longer names; the yellow ranks should not be abbreviated. Members abbreviating their ranks must use the approved rank abbreviations: Pad = Padawan; Guard = Guardian. Other ranks should not be abbreviated. Members may remove their tags while playing on base servers in order to avoid drawing unwanted attention. Members may remove their tags during role-playing events. Members must use official (JAWA) colours, red and green, and ranks, blue and yellow, for all official and formal events. Examples: Clan matches, Clan vs Clan events, Honours, and etc. Council Members have the right to require official (JAWA) tags & ranks for specific events that may fall out of the parameters of the rule above. Members may use unusual ranks for holidays or occasional fun, but should not impersonate members of a higher rank. Council members may remove their tags and ranks in order to pose as junior members or non-members, but should not impersonate other members of the clan. Other members may not "go undercover" unless instructed to do so by a council member. Only members of the (JAWA) Council may recruit new clan members or award new ranks. Members may not demote themselves, or give non-members permission to put on (JAWA) tags.
Events, Allies, and Other Servers: Any member may host an event, with the permission of a council member, or event planner. Members should check the calendar to ensure that their events do not conflict with previously scheduled activities, or recurring events, such as the (JAWA) League. Events that do not require a change of maps or game type, may be held by any member at any time without permission, provided that they do not conflict with other events or unnecessarily disrupt the server. Clan Matches may only be held by members of the (JAWA) Knights or Clan Leaders. Event hosts may determine how many players can participate, and if necessary determine which players may join an event, or a team. Other players should respect the instructions of the event host. Avoid activities and behaviour that could reflect badly on the (JAWA) Clan and its members. A player should show other players courtesy and respect at all times, and obey the rules of whatever server or forums they may be visiting. When visiting another server, ask about the rules, or read them if they're available. The (JAWA) clan wants to maintain friendly relations with other clans and servers. If a player makes a mistake, they are encouraged to apologize and try to avoid making the same mistake again.
Leaving and Rejoining the Clan: Members who have been removed due to inactivity may rejoin the clan at any time, provided they show sufficient activity to pass a trial, either before or after applying. Former members who left the clan in good standing, and who have not caused the clan any difficulty since leaving, may rejoin the clan at any time. If they rejoin the clan within six months of leaving, they may receive their former rank. After six months, members may rejoin at the rank of Padawan, unless the council approves a higher rank. Members who were removed from the clan due to misbehaviour or poor attitude, or who have caused the clan difficulty since leaving, may only rejoin with the permission of the (JAWA) Council. The council will decide whether to allow an application, and whether a membership poll is required. The council will determine the rank at which the member will be allowed to return.

== Clan Maps ==

JAWA had a number of different maps on the server for all sorts of occasions. All 5 of the following maps were made by long time member Helena Revan and were made specifically for use by the JAWA clan.

=== The (JAWA) Temple ===
JAWA had a grand total of 5 custom maps made for the clans personal use. The main clan map was called The (JAWA) Temple. It had many areas to hold events in, it had a Council room where the JAWA Council could hold meetings as well as do member promotions and areas for just having fun in general. It even had a race track for Swoop bike racing!

=== (JAWA) Meet & Greet ===
The Meet and Greet map was for Events of the same name where members could gather and get to know one another better.

=== Island Sanctuary ===
The Island Sanctuary map was made as a replacement for the Meet & Greet map.

=== The (JAWA) Circle ===
This map was made specifically for the JAWA Honours and included an area with a stage in it as well as buttons for music. It had many other rooms and outside areas as well for relaxing and hanging out in. There was even a Council room in which Orientation for new Council members was held on occasion.

=== (JAWA) Darts ===
The Darts map was made specifically for the monthly (JAWA) League event and was complete with 3 different dart board areas as well as a main hub with ships to fly and areas for dueling.

(JAWA) is a social JA+ clan, and is among the oldest JKA clans, founded in 2004. It has had many Leaders throughout the years, such as Link, who was Leader for ten years, Nightwing, who was leader from 2013 to 2018, and Jacobie, who first took on the leadership role in 2017.

(JAWA) is among the more popular clans, with vast numbers of members, and a busy JA+ server.

History

The (JAWA) Clan was founded by Matt and Iniowe in October of 2004. They didn't have a dedicated server, but instead played on ClanWarriors, a server that hosted a number of nascent clans in the early years of Jedi Academy. At this time the clan established its traditional red and green tags, the first version of the clan's ranking system, and distinguishing it from other clans, members were expected to use the Jawa model.

With the encouragement of Gage, the founder of ClanWarriors, Link assumed the rank of Leader on February 11, 2005, and set about rebuilding the clan. Due to his great enthusiasm and welcoming attitude, Link soon recruited a host of new members, and set about building the clan we know today, experimenting with new ranks and delegating authority to other members who had shown themselves responsible. Among the traditions that began in 2005 were trials intended to bestow the rank of "Elite", and a monthly multi-event tournament that became the (JAWA) League. However, the large and growing membership became difficult to manage, and as ClanWarriors struggled to support itself through donations, the (JAWA) Clan began to implode among various disagreements. Eventually Link agreed to dissolve the clan, shortly before the end of the year.

The clan's active forums were supplemented by a database of member records and clan information, dubbed "WikiJAWA", designed and implemented by Link.

Alliances

(JAWA) has had numerous allies over its life span, and some like The Angels of Fire stuck around for many years. Sadly, some alliances were broken within weeks, such as Unity of Legends. Currently, (JAWA) has three active alliances and several retired ones. Active allies are those who actively host events, come to (JAWA) server, and generally contribute as allies. (JAWA) is constantly look for new allies throughout the community.

Ranks

JAWA has gone through many rank changes over the many years that it has been around. Most notably was during the rank structure change of 2015.

Current Ranks
Rank Rank information
Leader The clan leader(s) have complete control over all services in the clan and manage them on a daily basis. Obtaining this rank is nearly impossible due to the rarity of an open post becoming available and due to the increase in workload given to The Council. This rank is given to councils who have proven themselves capable of taking on the job and are willing to sacrifice a large chunk of their spare time for the clan.
Council This rank is given out to members who have proven to want to help the clan in a big way and have obvious leadership skills. When a new Council Member is needed in the clan, a Leader will create a topic in (JAWA) Central asking members who are interested in the job to private message them by a certain date. Once they have all the interested candidates listed they will post the list in the council section on the forum. The current council will then vote in 3 topics which cut the candidates down to their final decision e.g. from 10 to 5 then 5 to 3 then 3 to 1. Once the current council all agree, the new council member will be announced in a large ceremony. Council members have the responsibility of making all the decisions in the clan, even the leaders only have a single vote like everyone else on the council however if there is a even tie e.g. 4 Yes and 4 No votes then they will have the final say.
Master This is one of the most difficult ranks to obtain as it requires you to take the Elite Trials and also obtain the rank of Lord. It is also the highest rank that does not involve being a Council Member.
Lord This rank is given to Council Members who have stepped down after at least 6 months of active service. This is to recognize their long time contribution to the council and clan as a whole. Members who have been in the clan for two years would also be given this rank as a sign of their loyalty and dedication to the clan.
Guardian This is the final rank in the cyan ranks and is given around 5 months after receiving the Knight rank. This is the final point where people can advance through the ranks the normal way as the yellow ranks are to be achieved and not gained by simply just being a member. Activity can make this rank come quicker and lack of activity will make this rank up come much slower.
Knight This is the third rank in the clan and is given around 4 months after receiving the Jedi rank. Getting this far in the rankings proves to The Council that members are loyal and thus they will be considered for positions such as Server Admin. Activity can make this rank come quicker and lack of activity will make this rank up come much slower.
Jedi This is the second rank in the clan and is given around 3 months after receiving the Padawan rank. Activity can make this rank come quicker and lack of activity will make this rank up come much slower.
Padawan This is the first rank in the clan and is given to you upon entering the clan as a full member.

Discontinued Ranks
Rank Rank Information
Initiate The First rank of the clan was removed and merged with Padawan. This was part of the 2015 rank structure change.
Disciple This rank was merged with the Lord rank as part of a ranking structure change in 2015. Members at the time who were Disciples were moved into the Lord rank. The Lord Rank would drop down below the Master rank in the clans structure.
Adept This rank was merged into the Jedi rank as part of a ranking structure change in 2015. Members at the time who were Adept, were moved into the Jedi rank.
Hopeful This rank was around when JAWA had the Dark / Light side rank system. It was a new rank when the dark side system was introduced, it was set before Student.
Student This rank was around when JAWA had the Dark / Light side rank system. It was a replacement for the Initiate rank when the dark side system was introduced.
Sentinel This rank was around when JAWA had the Dark / Light side rank system. It was a replacement for the Guardian rank when the light side system was introduced.
Full Member This was the highest rank possible when the clan was formed by Matt and Iniowe. It appeared like this (JAWA)YourName, similar to the current trial rank and like the retired status.
Consular This rank was around when JAWA had the Dark / Light side rank system. It was a replacement for the Disciple rank when the light side system was introduced.
Darth This rank was around when JAWA had the Dark / Light side rank system. It was a replacement for the Elite rank when the dark side system was introduced.
Recruiter Recruiter is an old rank introduced by SiLink in early 2005 to allow members to recruit without a Council Member's permission. They had access to the recruitment board and could do the same as a council member could. They could not rank people up, just recruit. The first ever Recruiter was Muffin_Man and followed by him was Kel, SilentBlueFire, Draggy Tuti, Gunmetal, Wodec, Koga and 1UP.
Chancellor This rank was used by SiLink for a week or so when the light / dark side system was introduced to signify the main leader, as Draggy was the dark side Leader and Kel was the light side leader.
Senator A Senator was someone who was between the council and the leader, he/she had all the duties he/she had before becoming a Senator but helps make big leadership decisions. Zantos was the first and last person to hold the rank as the duties were obviously not needed any longer.
Apprentice This rank was later renamed to Adept, it came between Padawan and Jedi. It was renamed due to members thinking Adept fit into the Jedi ranks better.

Rules

Server Rules Only members of the (JAWA) Clan may wear (JAWA) tags.

Forum Rules General Forum Rules: Please avoid "bumping" old topics.

Clan Rules General: Members may not join other Jedi Academy clans.
