The command is often used to get rid of unwanted player who have been repeated offenders on the server. The command uses the IP address of that player and adds it to an "banlist", which contains IP address that have been blacklisted on the server. However, players with Dynamic IP's have the ability to bypass the ban with relative ease. Usually, in these cases, a range ban is required in order to get rid of the player. However, with a range ban, comes the potential of hitting other players as well, due to the sheer size of IP lists that a range ban get's rid of.
