Tutorial Corrections
Some corrections have been made to both the tutorials I have over here, the Swinging door tutorial, which has a totally altered areaportaling system now. This alteration was made because the scripted controlling of areaportaling was causing no end of trouble if more than one areaportaled swinging doors were anywere near each other. Full credits of the new, simple system go to WadeV1589.
The Forced SP Playermodel tutorial has been altered to take into account also the sex of the new character. This could pose problems, if the player had happened to use the opposite sex in his own, previous games, because the force heal sound depends on this cvar. Thanks to Mercenary for pointing that out.

A Small Update
The new screenshot presents a new hologram that replaces the old, rather ugly one. The new hologram was modelled by no other than Mercenary, the famous author of the acclaimed Dash Rendar Resurgence JO SP level. Textures for the planet model came from scifi3d.theforce.net.
I have received all the beta reports, and most of the suggested changes have been made (like the hologram mentioned above). Only one thing remains. After that, it's just the release.
It has been mentioned before, and it was also confirmed by the beta testers: This is a very difficult puzzle based map. Don't expect anything else, or you will be sorely disappointed.

Syndicate Beta
It took long enough with all kinds of problems, but the level is finally very near to beta. It's a small level, but complicated enough to warrant a whole host of things not working or working only barely. Hopefully this closed beta will reveal some things I hadn't noticed (and I can almost guarantee there will be some I know of but couldn't get rid of for one reason or another).
Massassi.net has maintained absolute silence about the Single Player Mapping contest, thus keeping me and others in ignorance of the condition and state of it. However, the release date of the level will be in any case in the beginning of August.

Some Editing News
It's actually funny that I have never posted news about the mapping I'm doing, only about things of this site. This site is, or should be, about mapping, not about this site itself.
To correct this wickedness, I hereby give a short Syndicate: Initiation status report: Nothing but bug fixing and slight artistic revision remains. I'm still missing the sound files from one voice actor, but those should be arriving any day soon. Also, I'm glad to announce the brilliant terrain modeller Torchy promised to make a custom roff for me (check this to get a general idea about a roff), to smoothly move a space ship in a cinematic. Small contributions by gifted people are steadily enhancing the quality of my work. I wish to thank them all!
Aside from mapping, the Forced Single Player Playermodel tutorial is now posted at Map-Review also, for your viewing pleasure.

Screenshot Archive
Since you all so fiercely love my more or less moral and discreet screenshots, I was sure you felt a pang of sorrow everytime I updated a new one, because the old ones were seemingly lost. Not so anymore!
Now you need nothing but click on that little screenshot on the right, and you will be taken to the archives. And what's more: Over there you can admire them all in the full 800x600 glory!

New system and new resource
Well, finally the changes I foretold almost a month ago are here: I got rid of the frames, all of 'em. Now this is just like any other web site. To speak the truth, I think it's better than before. But then again, if it wasn't better, I wouldn't have done it, would I?
In addition to the technical change behind the pages, I added one resource: Forced Single Player Playermodel. Have a look at the Resources to check it out.

Soon to change
I'll be doing some changes here in the near future. The changes will include the removal of frames, which are unfashionable nowadays, I've learnt. In the mean time, I remade the rotating Serpent logo, reducing about half of its weight (and 80% of lenght). There's a new screenshot also. It continues my glamorous tradition of dismemberment. This time the setting is the original Raven SP level Yavin2, with a little twist...

Not much of a news
The swinging doors tutorial is now online also at Map-Review. However, for the time being it will also stay online over here. The trend will continue also in the future, should I make more tutorials: They will appear here with no delay, then at MR...

First Resource Added
The first resource to be added is Scripted Swinging Door Tutorial. It's a tutorial originally written for the Map-Review site, but for one reason or another it never got posted over there. But now this tutorial for JA is here for you.

Welcome to the Serpent Code Productions home site!
Before I launch into an explanation of just what is Serpent Code Productions, let me explain the purpose of this site. This web site is designed to be a showcase of my custom levels for the games Star Wars Jedi Outcast (JO) and Jedi Academy (JA). As of yet, I have released but one level for JO, none for JA. However, I'm busy building also my first level for JA. You can check the results thus far by having a look at the Projects.
Oh, Serpent Code Productions? Yes, the origins of the name lie in the Project Lighthouse, my first and only JO level. There you met the ill-fated Lord Serpent. His distinct coat of arms became the Serpent Code Productions logo you see on the left. There's little else to add really. |
