      I believe he's talking about real time optimization think of it as reverse tessalation vs. discrete LOD (like in JA) where the models are swapped and don't require as much CPU or RAM (at least in 1996). With Quake 3 they were restricted by the vertex animation system, every player model has its animations baked into the md3 as opposed to using a universal animation file, which would've been another hurdle.

  2. @staff God you guys still havent done that? Anyways, where is the getting started thread? Maybe in the tutorial section, you should pin a topic like "Getting started" which goes over the structure of the game, the rules of the game (i.e. vert limits etc), what shader syntax it uses, how pk3's are compiled, etc. Just a real lubed up entry for the uninitiated.

      Group mentions can be done but are a paid plugin for the forum software. If you want to donate to it, Chalk, I will get it and install it. ? The new account message idea isn't bad, I'll have to look into that.

      I do hope to have a front page overhaul that focuses less on news posts and more on stuff like that, but I'm not sure when that'll happen.

      lmao hey man that idea for mocapping the anims, would need a lot of help from mini for me to get the finger controls correct because it wont really capture the fingers nicely, and i'd need a universal finger control. I know how to set it up, but it would honestly take SOOOO much time out of what I'm doing right now to get it going. Still, I plan on setting it up, and getting it all ready so anyone on the Hub who has a kinect eye can download the settings and the program and customized...

      Well there are a lot to go though, playing some of them can kinda help. For instance, BOTH_A3_BL_TR means both upper and lower body, attack with 3rd style (red), swing from bottom left to top right.

      afaik this is not supported.

      well technically speaking, it should be possible. Each LOD is a model on it's own after all, you'd just assign other (downsized?) textures to it... but not sure how efficient that would be.
