They're pretty easy, you just gotta figure them out. Only took me a few days to get it now it only takes 1 min to solve.

  6. Can there be a separate sub forum for frankenstien/kitbash models? I keep going to the WIP section only to find threads crypticly named with no new stuff.

    1. Bek

      Bek

I second this. No disrespect to people who do kitbrushes, but it's very repetitive, and I'd like to see some actual new content.

This is not Youtube. What do people have to gain from clickbaiting on JKHub? So someone will look at their thread that would not normally. Yeah, major problem.

THJat search feature only works if there is actually a name supplied to the mfile and not just some link to some massive bundle on some page in a 30 page thread. And then there are those people that appearently do nothing but lurk through those ridiculous WIP Threads flame people in the request forum for requesting soemthing that's hidden away in a massive thread. I have beenthinking about setting up a post in the ideas and issues section about this for a while, as I may have a Suggestio...

If you need a laugh, I threw out my participation reward from second grade cause I was absolutely disgusted by it and it's relation to how weak kids really are these days. For those wondering, I'm a 90s kid, early 90s. Back when that whole "award for just paticipation" stuff began.

I don't think this is a kids game, nor was it aimed at kids. It's not like we're playing some game based on a Disney movie.

  9. New animation rig waiting approval, if you're still making animations with Dragon then you probably only just discovered fire.

I have the resources for the Maya8 dotXSI exporter... when I get most of my 3dsMax projects completed I will look into updating it for newer versions of Maya.

    3. minilogoguy18

      minilogoguy18

Oh yeah, blender can save GLA but I don't think anyone has taken the time to make a biped for JA in that, most people using it just kitbash models so their knowledge of the program is probably very limited. Softimage EXPORTS dotXSI but does not save it directly, it's not a scene file, the scene files are .EXP. It of course supports a handful of other formats for source engine, cry engine, unreal engine and other formats for file exchange between other softwares.

    4. minilogoguy18

      minilogoguy18

One huge thing I forgot, Dragon CANNOT create anything, only make animations for an existing skeleton. I can create whatever I want. Oh and yes, there is a tutorial by me how to get an animation into the game. It's a tiny bit out dated only because the rig has gone through a lot of changes but any Softimage tutorial can teach you the basics of animation.

  10. I don't know how much easier I could possibly make it for people who want to make player animations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZL87nt5uU8

      minilogoguy18

Photoshop is also used for making buttons and such. Scripting in Softimage is pretty easy since it uses 2 very basic scripting languages (VBScript and JScript).

    3. Cerez

      Cerez

Fair enough. Sounds like you know what you're doing -- I won't interrupt. ;) I recommend using Dreamweaver for active region slicing. It's probably better suited (more accurate) than Softimage for this task.

Ever heard of VirtualBox? ;) Put any professional software that you need that doesn't exist for Linux in a virtual Windows box. Problem solved. I currently have a JKA modding box (used it for creating the Ahsoka model), and a Photoshop box. They're like working environments for that specific task. I have the virtual boxes directly accessing related files and folders on my actual drive. Just make sure you have at least 5GB of RAM, and lots of storage -- but that's not so hard to co...

    3. Cerez

      Cerez

...come across these days. Also, if you can, use Windows XP for these. When uncluttered, boot time is so much quicker for XP than any other version of Windows.

    4. Cerez

      Cerez

It costs a little in performance, but the benefit you get is that your OS and primary working environment does not clutter and slow down. The virtual boxes are running isolated from the rest of the system. You can then install any tool you need in there, no matter how crummy the software. If you're doing regular backups, you can just restore an earlier version of the box if things go sour in Windows.

Arms at 45 deg btw is much better for deformation and animating. The shoulder and pecs are at rest in that position.

    3. Archangel35757

      Archangel35757

maybe the shoulders are more natural at 45 degrees...but a T-Pose puts the arms approximately at the mid-point of their full range of motion.

    4. minilogoguy18

      minilogoguy18

No, to get the arms in the hands up position you're rotating your arms on a totally different axis. 45° is the middle of a global Z axis from a front perspective.

      Bek

What brand are you getting? Will you be using a dual monitor setup?

    2. minilogoguy18

      minilogoguy18

Acer, nothing too fancy, just single. No need for dual really. I'm not on my PC that much to need 2 monitors.

    3. Bek

      Bek

That's the same brand I'm using. Copped it a little while ago over at a thrift store. Of course it's not a 27" :P.

Archangel, look at Ping, he knows what's up. The Dreamcast is a great console with great titles. There are older consoles out there that people go crazy over that aren't half as good as it. Definitely superior to a PSX or N64 which were it's competition at launch. I recently bought "Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver" for it and was blown away by the visuals being more than twice as good as the PSX or PC versions.

Hmm... that Windows 10 sure seems like more trouble than it's worth -- drivers misbehaving everywhere... :/

It could be that it was just an OpenGL rendering issue in Windows 10, as you say, but it sounds more to me like a Softimage compatibility bug (with Windows 10). I thought it was something more recognisable and general 3D rendering related, but this way it could be anything, really.

Glad to know it works now.
