  1. JKA has become that community with such a tight-knit userbase that we all know each other now, and it's sad when something like this happens, no matter who the person. I've only had a few social encounters with Binny, and while they weren't the most memorable, something like this hits home to anyone who's lost a loved one to substance abuse. Binny was a person, and someone who felt happiness from this crazy community, even if it was at others expense. Thank you for sharing this Cyb3rst0rm. Hope his family & friends are doing well <3.
  2. While it probably wasn't said much, JKHub -- what you did for the JKA community was nothing short of awesome and generous for the webhosting service, as well as other services provided over the years. Thank you personally from myself, for putting up with me when I needed you guys for several hosting projects. much <3.
  3. My hats off to you, Raz0r. I appreciated JA++ from a client-side perspective, been using it now for about 1-1.5 years, but server side, I'm very excited to work with. Thanks for throwing the info here !
  4. I've modified the poll for Saber Damages to include 2 other choices. Feel free to recast your vote (Sorry for the confusion). Just for the sake of consistency, I will try not to make another modification to the poll.
  5. Well.. Dopie's ignorance just shined through. I was under the impression that JA++ was just an add-on to JA+ in some sort've.. weird way. I was unaware that JA++ was a whole different ball of wax. Are there any notable servers that use JA++ server-side? (JAWA, EK, KR) And, what DON'T you get from JA++ that you get with JA+? (Example: admin cmds, grapple/jetpack etc). Do alot of folks here prefer JA++ w/ base dmgs? I'll edit the poll if need be.
  6. Do you know of a better alternative that can yield the same amount of traffic as JA+/JA++?
  7. Haha, do tell Omicron. What are your thoughts?
  8. We are definitely gauging most server settings based on how Mindtrick is. The questions above is more of a gauge towards the general public, because our server won't JUST be used for matches. Setting up amvstr's to change to TFFA on the fly, etc. Would make for a fun event, like a Friday Night One-Shot Night or somethin? XD. I'm definitely down to try that, just not a default setting. SP/MP dmg's was referring directly to JA+ damages. I'm not entirely sure how it's going to work. We'll be using JA++ on our server, but I think the damages are still relative to JA+. *looks @ Raz0r* XD The server will be no force, with sabers. Pretty standard stuff, but with amvstr's setup to enable force/guns etc. Also guys, feel free to check us out @ http://mindtrick.jkhub.org
  9. Hey guys, I put together the poll above to get an idea on server preferences. What people are looking for, what keeps them coming back, etc. Just getting a feel for the new Mindtrick server that'll be coming online soon ! Thanks for your opinions and votes on this questionnaire. They're hugely appreciated!
  10. Well, they only offer 1 size server, which is 32 slot. But for $10.. that seems pretty cheap. Most other companies are charging $30 or so for a 32 slot server. I would really want someone working with me, hands on, while setting up a VPS, and alot of folks don't have the time to dedicate to that sorta thing xD
  11. I spoke with several representatives @ https://www.bluefangsolutions.com/ Really good prices, and all. The only thing that put me off, was that they run their servers with Windows, instead of Linux. I've heard stability issues with Windows OS based servers before. The pricing though -- $10 for 32 slots sounds awesome. I asked why it was so inexpensive, and they said it was due to them having a lot of in-house created software. (cpanel, etc).
  12. Hey guys, Looking for input regarding a reliable server host for a Jedi Academy server. I've heard about buying/renting a VPS, and while it seems you can get a lot out of a VPS, my expertise in setting that up is non-existent. I checked with Caelum, who said that he decided not to pursue server hosting, so I'm turning to the experts @ JKHub We aren't looking for anything special -- we would like to use the JA++ server-side mod, or OpenJK, whichever offers the best security, and all that. Just looking to be put in the right direction. Thanks for your time. - Dopie @ mindtrick.jkhub.org
