Today I'd recommend just looking into how to do this stuff with Blender though, this is museum material. The date at the top says 2018, but the real date is august 2014. Though it's kind of entertaining to read I suppose.
Fun fact: I dreamt someone tagged me in this forum tonight (hasn't happened for 6 months at least probably).
EDIT: Updated the tutorial images, but if dropbox breaks the links again in the future, use the images in my zip file above if possible to replace them.

Also I think it would be better only single player: it is increasingly difficult to stand out in multiplayer and singleplayer and the most successful games are single player, like God of War or Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Making singleplayer games like these is a massive unclimbable mountain for any indie team. Multiplayer is easier to be successful with, unless you're in the mobile industry.
The above mentioned team is exactly what you should look into.

Wasn't bomberman a platformer-shooter also?
You're probably thinking of a different game. Bomberman was the game where you laid bombs in a grid, and they'd explode with horizontal/vertical beams.

Battletoads meets Super Smash while also meeting Matrix, or something.

Just right click on the image you want and copy the video/image location, if its a gifv/mp4 replace the extension with gif.

Yeah, it's what I usually do, but they become too huge and are very slow to load on JKHub, from what I've seen. I tried posting all my gifs like that earlier, and the post just.. vanished, after I posted it.

If you go to the image lsit in your account and you click a thumbnail, you'll get this popup:

Thanks, but that seems only to work with images, and not GIFs (it only gives thumbnails).

Besides, shouldn't rare/special weapons and items by design be more powerful or have some other unique strength? Not that I know the context, if this is for a mod of yours or something.

I mean, technically it's still a laser sword that would burn through any human. It seems more to me like it can't reliably contain its own energy, so it's a bit of a loose cannon, maybe randomly dealing much more or much less damage?

Mostly doing a graphics/level-design lift these days, but I can't really say I've established a final art direction yet. Mostly lighting and room-feel at the moment, but also trying out some materials I made in Substance Designer.

The new frog, in Substance Painter. Completely desaturated here, since the colors are assigned to the different parts via the game itself, so it works with the customization tool. All animations can be re-used on it, but it will probably have some unique animations too.

I really love the music in Curse of Monkey Island, played it a lot when I was younger. That wacky reggae playing as you stand inside a snake, grabbing blindly for ingredients which you must mix in some ridiculous combination to make it spew you out.
