To try to remake JKA on UE4. Would be kind of awesome if they succeeded, I doubt they will, and if they do Disney will probably shut them down.

They wouldn't be the only Star Wars project on UE4, Battlecry is doing a "true Battlefront game" on UE4. They have been around for ages now, and haven't received a C&D. Anyways, I sent that mountain guy a PM saying he should come here and help bring modern graphics to OpenJK instead.

Pretty cool. I hope they can actually put something good together. Normally projects like these surface around here every few months and are forgotten in a week, but with such huge swarm of people on Reddit that are on board to work on a remake maybe it will actually amount to something. It's like the Morroblivion and Skywind team, the Elder Scrolls games are so popular that the sheer size of the amount of people working on the game makes it actually possible.

If they could fully capture the feel of the games in UE4 then all the more power to them. It makes more sense to create a new game on Unreal 4 than to work on an engine originally created in 1999. Rend-2 is cool and all, but the amount of work to get rend2 looking like Unreal 4 would probably be more work than creating an entirely new game on a new engine like they're doing.
