JKJA models to Battlefront.

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if you can port a model from JKJA to Battlefront? I have seen what looked like the MD2 Obi-wan and Anakin in a Battlefront mod before, and I wanted to implement some of my models over to there. And if it is possible, what software I will need, and how hard is it?

You will need XSI and a program the converts .glm models to a format XSI recognizes. Here is a free version of XSI:

And here is a plugin for importing and exporting .msh (battlefront's format):

Yeah, modding those games is a PITA, no where near as flexible or modular as JA, only worth the effort if you plan on making an entire map because you can't just drag and drop characters to a folder then have them select-able in a map.

Head over to gametoast.com if you wanna learn how to mod that game, though if you aren't skilled in modding you're going to find it difficult.

Ok thanks! I'll try that! Question: can you do it with blender?

Ya, Battlefront 2 was the first game I ever modded it took me months to figure it out, after learning how to mod there it was a breeze to learn JKJA. The only thing that I like about modding Battlefront is that it's pretty easy to make cool maps and the odf's are fun to play around with, I never learned how to make models though, mainly because I hate working with Softimage.
