Jeff's never ending WIP's

For some reason when I use the Evil Starkiller model the lightsaber blades refuse to work. :(

Check the skin files. If they have

l_hand,*off

r_hand,*off

 

Change them to

l_hand,off

r_hand,off

 

(Remove the '*' character).

 

If not, then, as WhitePhoenix said, the hand tags are missing. If that's the case:

open the glm in Blender.

On another layer, open another model that works

Move the hand tags to the Starkiller model and re-parent them to the appropriate hands

Delete the other model

Export back the glm

 

That should fix it.

probably.

Quality?

could be far better, just a few things on scourge:

  1. Serious gaps in the model during animation, jsut check the models neck in modview while playing throguh a few animation sequences.
  2. no caps for dismembered body parts.
  3. The fingers on the hands are not weighted to the proper bones and stay in a fixed position.
  4. stiff cape
  5. This one is pure nitpicking: while the textures look okay in jka, they could be improved rather easily, if you have the normal maps and the required knowhow.

and these are what I found within less than 5 minutes.

Forgot about this, does that mean you're going to end up fixing up the Scourge model yourself?

 

Jeff mostly makes these for stuff he feels like playing with in multiplayer and it kinda sucks for us SP players who just feel like acting out battles by themselves.

It's possible but most of what is in the game we already have models for. If there is someone specific in there you want let me know, but I'm not doing anything that already has a model made.

They work perfectly fine in SP. If you mean for the model to show in the SP character Selection menu, all you need to do is copy and rename some files. Follow the example below

How it looks.

 

Fingers should wrap around the saber, always, if they don't then the model just isn't presentable enough to be used, imo.

 

I feel a model shouldn't have weighting issues personally before its released to the public.

You start to sound like an ungrateful prick to be honest.

Not to mention, his distaste for ports really and their "inability to wrap their hands around sabers" tells me that he literally wants something that's impossible and makes demands that can never be met. In other words: he needs to send his OCD into the antarctic and never thaw it out.
