Hey guys

Im a mapper/modder from Sof2 but that community is as good as dead so Im asking here.

We're looking for an engine which improves the graphics of our old games but we'll still be able to use the gamefiles. Something like theyve done with etxreal, true combat elite...

Now I was wondering which other engines you guys know which look pretty good and are compatible.

Here are some examples:

Xreal: http://www.moddb.com/games/xreal

ioquake3: http://ioquake3.org

darkplaces: http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/

Example: http://www.moddb.com/games/black-days/videos

With this maybe :

I also heard about evolution q3 but i cant seem to find a link or something..

The main things we'd like are normal maps, dynamic lightning, better sound system, physics engine etc...

Btw heres an image I found of our quake family tree so we can see where what comes from:

I really hope there are more engines like this out there, and hopefully youll know some.

Cheers

Wow thanks z3z never heard of that one and ive been playing sof2 since the start.

Seems like there are more engines then i knew of but keep the names and links coming.. Jk and sof2 deserve some graphical improvements as almost no new game compares to the gameplay of these games.

Ok cheers. Ill keep an eye out for that one. And hopefully theyll make a better sun , and add some more model/animation support too like md5 or smd. But i guess one thing at a time..

Btw, is there an ETA or an idea of an ETA on OpenJK with rendr2? So if it would take longer then expected, I can tell our coder he doesnt have to haste things like reasembling his PC and preparing everything.

And why don't they use rendr3? I though I saw it somewhere once I was looking for the rendr2
