- All submissions must be Asia-themed (CTF on the Chinese Wall? Ninjas vs Samurai? Duel in the Taj Mahal? Terracotta soldier skins?)
- You can only enter your own creations.
- You may enter more than one file.
- Already existing files cannot be submitted. The goal is to encourage new creations!
- Any content is welcome, including skins, models, maps, weapons, menu mods, etc. Just make sure it abides by the rules.
- Files can be for Jedi Academy and/or Jedi Outcast. We will assume files are for JKA unless specified otherwise.
- Keep it tasteful and don't be a massive racist spoilsport.
- The deadline for submitting content is March 11, 2018.
- The poll will be closed by March 18, 2018.

We have 3 staff members
Circa, AshuraDX, and myself are our current staff members - we do everything that keeps JKHub running smoothly. Sometimes though, we can't get around to things with just the three of us. For example, I've been gone this past month due to moving countries & having limited internet access; I've only just gotten back to proper activity levels today (which also means work on software upgrades can now resume after a month of nothing happening). Similarly, Circa and Ashura have lives to live, places to be, and things to do outside of JKA. In conclusion, we could use a bit more manpower to make sure files are approved quickly, the website runs smoothly, and so forth.
Job description: what we expect from you
Being JKHub staff isn't actually that interesting. I want to emphasize that: day to day JKHub staff duties are boring. What you'll do includes:
Ideally, you should have at least a couple of hours a week to spare on doing JKHub stuff. You don't need to have a technical background or be a real modder, but you should be familiar enough with modding to be able to install mods, look inside pk3 files, and basics like that. We also strongly prefer candidates who have already been around JKHub for some time and have posted on the forum before (rarely is fine though, but not never) - if that's not you, you may still apply, we won't instantly reject you, but you will have to step up your forum posting while we deliberate over who to choose.
How to apply
Send me a PM telling me you'd like to be a staff member. I'll be sharing your PM with the rest of the staff. In your PM, sell me on why we should want you to be JKHub staff. Tell us about who you are/what your involvement in JKA has been - whatever. I'm not at all strict, there's no template to fill in, but your goal is to convince me you'd be a good staff member, and to give us an idea of what makes you tick, without lying. Title your PM 'cinnamon pancakes' just so I know you can read. At the end of your PM, I should know who you are/what you've done in JKA and why you'd make a good staff member/what you have to offer. I won't reply to your PM unless you explicitly ask me to, but rest assured I'll read it and post it for other staff members to read.

The conclusion of the Asia Mod Contest has arrived! This contest was very unique, and we got some really nice-looking submissions. Asian themes translate quite well to a Jedi-themed game, so surprisingly a lot of these mods don't feel completely out of place like I was expecting them to.
You guys voted for what you thought was best, and the winner is...
Artemis swept the votes with her FFA_China map! The design of this map is quite simple, but the detail and atmosphere is beautiful. Not only does it look good, but it feels right. The size of the map is perfect for large FFA or TFFA matches. Fashion + function are the two things that every map should have, and this one definitely has both.
The first thing you will notice on this map is the glowing water. Or at least we assume its water. I suppose it could be some kind of magical or spiritual fluid of some kind. To me it looks like Mountain Dew Baja Blast. The glow can be quite blinding if you have dynamic glow on, and I think that may be intentional. The water sits in shallow pools and also flows down shallow waterfalls across the map.
The next thing you will notice is the detail in the architecture. I'm not sure what she used as her reference, but the design of the architecture is phenomenal. Especially the red puzzle-looking walls shown to the right, and the spikes on the corners of the building roofs. Very cool looking, and definitely look oriental in origin.
The atmosphere itself is very spooky in a way. There is fog, but it isn't dark. It has a very mysterious feel to it. It also appears to be on a mountain or hill, excluded from anything else visible in the distance. I think that if there was a night time version, seeing the place lit up by the water glow and the lanterns would be really cool. It would also make for a great opportunity for events that involve hiding! Just a thought. *nudge wink nudge*
One of the coolest little features that Artemis added was the Howler creature statues shown to left. This is the only connection to the Star Wars or Jedi Academy world in the map. It's subtle but it's a nice touch, and actually fits in well. The way they are posed look exactly like how you'd picture them to be posed for a statue.
Overall, this is a really great and unique map. I recommend adding it to map rotations or used in some way on servers around the community. It's unique, and may not be pure Star Wars-themed, but it fits well and serves as a good map to switch things up from time to time. Nice job, Art. You are the winner of the 2018 Asia Mod Contest!
The other submissions definitely deserve lots of praise as well, so be sure to check out each of them below!
Very nice job to everyone that participated in the contest! If you didn't have time to make something for this one, don't worry! We will be having more contests in the future. Thanks to all who voted!

Today is Chinese New Year. Most of the JKA community lives in different countries, and may not even have noticed: we don't normally even announce it. For those in China, happy Chinese New Year/Spring Festival. For everyone else: is our excuse for a modding contest believable enough?
Asia themed modding contest
We haven't had any modding contest since Halloween, and front page news has been a bit absent. We've been extremely busy behind the scenes preparing for the biggest backend software upgrade JKHub has ever seen, which has been a lot of work, but isn't very visible if you're not staff. Since we missed the chance to have a Christmas themed contest, and we don't really want to have the same contest themes every single year, we ended up with an Asia themed modding contest. Not just China themed - we didn't want a modding contest revolving around any one country - but Asia themed. The whole continent. The vast majority of the JKA community is in Europe and North America, so we thought it might be a cool way to meet some other cultures.
Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for everyone involved. The way you submit your file for this contest is to upload them as normal files in our file section, but using a new category called Contest Entries.
So go to this link, and submit your mod as you normally would. The category should be set to Chinese New Year 2018 already. If you don't enter it there, your file won't be entered until you do. If you realize that you didn't do that, PM a staff member and we can change it for you.
How do I vote?
On the 11th, we will post a poll that all members can vote in. It will be featured in the Latest Poll area on the front page, as well as the usual forum for polls.
All entries will be listed here as they come rolling in.
Some administrative notes
Like I mentioned earlier, we've been hard at work on backend software modernization. I previously planned for the new software to roll out in January, but we've had to push it back slightly because we encountered a major issue. We're currently looking at contracting a third-party developer to resolve the issue, but as I'll be away for several weeks soon, it may take a bit longer. Without mentioning a specific date, I'll just say our new backend software is coming Very Soon Now - not the coming weeks, but not months and months away.
On another note: at the moment, only myself, Circa, and AshuraDX are JKHub staff. Our workload is becoming a bit overwhelming for the three of us, so we'll be opening staff position applications in an estimated 1-2 months time. We strongly prefer applicants who have been around JKHub for a while as regular users, so if you're interested, now is a good time to start becoming active on our forum if you weren't already.
